It came out during a time when it was hard to love cars, or at least the new ones; there just wasn’t much to talk about in 1981 that didn’t involve pining for the muscle car era, before the Government ruined everything. This movie, the cool cars that were in it, and the general thumbing of its nose at authority made me think that liking cars was cool.

Plus, from how Jamie Farr tells it, it sounds like they had a blast.
