Oof, where do I start!

I think the best was going to the 2012 USGP with one of my best friends.

We were both really excited for F1's return to the US, and we started planning as soon as the date was announced. We got Turn 5 grandstand tickets, and it was going to be our first time seeing a Grand Prix in person. The atmosphere of the event was awesome, it felt like everyone was just as excited as we were to be there. The track was great, the event was well-run, our seats were really good, and we both really enjoyed seeing F1 fans everywhere around town for a change. We also met Paddy Lowe at the baggage claim, Will Buxton at his bash, some Williams mechanics at airport security...God dang that whole weekend was really great.

It also was the first time I shot a race with a DSLR camera, and next week I’m shooting the Isle of Man TT races with accreditation, so that’s a thing too.

Other good memories:

  • Going to my first race with my dad in 2002
  • An all-you-can-kart day where it went from wet to dry and we did 22 races
  • First time autocrossing
  • First track day
  • First track day in Europe
  • Driving the Nurburgring combined circuit
  • Going to Le Mans in 2016
  • Going to the 24 Hours of Spa
  • Going to Goodwood FOS
  • First race with photography accreditation (at Bathurst)
