I had a 1991 Camaro RS that I got not-running for really cheap. The Vehicle Anti-theft System (VATS - what everyone thinks is a microchip in GM keys in the early 1990's) malfunctioned and wouldn’t let me start the car. That’s when I found out that the chip wasn’t a chip - it’s a resistor. Buying a 25 cent resister and bridging the right wires ends all of your VATS problems forever.
