On one of my trips across state from my family’s home to campus, my 240Zs gas pedal snapped on the Merritt Parkway(It had been bent back and forth so like a paperclip it eventually failed). The reason I went back home was to pick up my winter clothes so I harvested the laces from one of my boots and tied it to the anchor ball at the end of my throttle cable. I drove the remaining ~75miles by pulling the on the lace wrapped around one hand, shifting and steering with the other. Even with a glove it felt like I was sawing my hand every time I pulled on the throttle.
