First car was an 86 BMW 325. Riding with a buddy leaving the Tyson’s Corner parking garage and the car stopped moving in any gear. Engine wouldn’t accelerate at all. Turned out that the accelerator pedal to throttle cable connection was butchered (I believe it was a plastic German bushing). Took off my shoelace and tied one end too the butterfly valve actuator. Ran in out the back of the hood and accelerated by pulling the shoelace with my left hand out the window.. Worked like a charm.
