Late 90s Nissan Sunny super saloon. Rented on an island excursion in the Caribbean. The islands total population was about 250 people. The Nissan’s total lug nut population was 12. Not very confidence inspiring. The amount of damage on the vehicle when we picked it up was enough to have it totaled by an insurance company back home. The guy that we picked it up from seemed to be high and I’m pretty sure he attempted to steal our credit card information because he insisted the weather was affecting his ability to get the card to the credit card info on his iPhone card scanner. The map he gave us was completely worthless. The roads and distances on the map had no relation to real locations and distances. Finally, after getting lost multiple times and having our car surrounded by wild dogs we found the beach we were looking for and sat down just in time for it to rain. It switched between heavy rain and blinding sun every 20mins for the rest of the day until we left to return the car. The skies then decided to open up with such a vengeance and so quickly that the “parking lot” (I use that term loosely) was now a small lake. It seemed like the entire island had decided to leave on the ferry at the same time as us. After searching the lot for a spot for almost a half hour and getting very close to flooding the car, we finally spotted our rental guy from earlier who was very reluctant to get the car back from us unless he could find an umbrella. After finally finishing with him, we boarded the ferry and discovered that our window would not stay shut during the storm. A nice strong spray blasted us in the face for the next 45 minutes. The rest of the week was great.
