    I remember learning that there was evidence that a female orgasm had a reproductive purpose. The convulsions/contractions that result help get the sperm where it needs to be.

    I know studies can be complex and hard to isolate real causes but this one just seems rift with problems. Instead of saying a woman orgasms over money can't we claim that rich guys are better at sex? So all those women we thought were gold diggers were actually just after great sex?

      @Elaken: I read somewhere that educated men were more likely to perform oral sex on women, and since there could be links between education and money then rich dudes could just be better at sex. You're right, there are so many reasons why any of this could happen if it even does in the first place. Frankly I'm not sure what the point of trying to figure it out is.

    The reproductive purpose of the female orgasm is to make the woman want to have sex, no? I mean, god forbid science support/promote any ideas about women wanting to have sex for *gasp* physical pleasure. If a woman is more likely to enjoy sex, wouldn't she be more likely to reproduce? This all seems so obvious to me that it almost makes me think that I am missing something...like the freedom to say I like to screw for the O's, not the dollar bills, ya'll.

    Correlation != causation. I swear, they must not teach proper experimental procedure anymore in Psychology programs! I'm so glad I didn't get my doctorate, because I can see the state of the field, and I am not amused.

      @NefariousNewt: I am getting an undergrad degree in Pysch (third year) and they definately taught us the difference between correlation and causation in first year/every class I've taken pretty much.

    Another example of we should always be careful when quoting any study, whether we agree with it or not.

    The extrapolation from this data that women are hard wired to be gold diggers is reaching at best, complete manipulation of the data at worst.

    Look, here:

    More money = less money troubles = less tension, stress, worry = more likely to want to hump like bunnies = more sex, more often = higher likelihood of orgasm.

    It's seriously not that complex, and it doesn't make anyone a gold-digger.
