I lurk on a board that deals with helping people deal with or cut off horrible family members. Recently, there was a thread where in the mother-in-law found a box in the freezer (just wait) and was trying to open it (oh god I’m so sorry) because she assumed it was the medical waste from the poster’s early (less than 10 weeks) miscarriage (it was!) and she wanted to see the sex (impossible). They were keeping the clots to bury them later FYI.

This is what comes from letting religious people make decisions about the content of textbooks. We’ve got multiple heartbeat laws on the books and people keeping bloody tadpoles in their kitchen so they can bury them like dead hamsters in the back yard.

If your religion is anti science you are fucking stupid and wrong and useless. You are actively harming people. If you want to reply to me with some version of “not all religions!” keep your fucking guilty ass conscience to yourself. You wouldn’t feel attacked if you didn’t know, deep in your bones, that you are in fact part of the fucking problem.

... so are the folks who support this ready to start vigorously advocating for expanded medicare for prenatal care, expanded welfare rights, more SNAP benefits, more money for foster care support of youth, expanded tax support for public schools, medicaid for children, extended FMLA, paid maternity and paternity leave, higher rates for state-assisted day care payments, etc.? Or....

Exactly. They say ““I’m signing this bill to ensure all Georgians have the opportunity to live, grow, learn and prosper in the great state of Georgia,” Kemp said.” I bet my bottom dollar Kemp didn’t/ doesn’t support things like medicaid expansions and all the programs that are needed to help children *already born* to families unable to financially handle them. These people want to force people to have children and then abandon the families and declare them to be bad people. The same anti abortionist are often against sex ed programs that have been proven to reduce pregnancy rates and insist upon abstinence only education.

      It’s about fetuses.  Not children.

He’ll probably try to pull off an Elisabeth Hasselbeck next by deeming it wrong for women to use the morning after pill. I’ll never forget that epic meltdown. It was just proof that it’s not about killing babies...it’s about killing women’s options. If all women woke up tomorrow & decided to get sterilized to avoid having children...then America would pull a China in reverse & force every woman to have at least 2 babies. Yep a good ole baby quota system. It’ll be a good ole Handmaid’s Tale. And the only reason why the black women’s babies will suddenly be tolerated is because white men like Paul Ryan are worried about their future workforce.

Where the rich white women...will still be getting their abortions while criticizing & looking down on the middle class & poor white women who voted for Kemp & ain’t rich enough to get away with it.

Um China is currently actively urging families to have multiple kids now.  Their problem, like India and several other eastern countries, is that they still live by antiquated beliefs and customs of paying men to marry their daughter (aka the dowry) and so everyone wants boys.  And girls get aborted.  Or discarded.

    Dear Georgia

For your information (and according to the fake scientists of the CDC, who I believe are headquartered in your state), your state has an infant mortality rate of 7.2/1000, over the average of the entire US. You rank 5th in the nation in preterm births, and fourth in low birthweight. As of 2016, you had 12% of the population without health insurance.

So please explain to me how you a worried about all these babies, you fucking hypocrites?

No it won’t. This thing will almost certainly be suspend pending a decision by a higher court. And while they think the Supreme Court is more favorable to them on this issue, Kennedy was quite conservative (read: right-wing) on the abortion issue, so it’s not much of a change.

In any case, there is no way this will be in effect come January.

to ensure all Georgians have the opportunity to live, grow, learn and prosper

It’s Georgia. They’ll only be able to do the first two of those.

“I’m signing this bill to ensure all Georgians have the opportunity to live, grow, learn and prosper in the great state of Georgia,”

Wait, so this bill also includes language that bans assault rifles, expands Medicaid, makes K-12 free, cleans up lakes and rivers, caps carbon & bans fracking, and makes vaccines mandatory?

    No? Hm.

In Georgia, the new law’s sponsor, Republican state Rep. Ed Setzler, “called the bill a ‘common sense’ measure that seeks to ‘balance the difficult circumstances women find themselves in with the basic right to life of a child,’” the AP reported.

So,forcing someone to deliver a child they obviously didn’t want is “balancing the difficult circumstances women find themselves in” then?

Someone should “force” him and everyone who supported him,to take these kids once they’re born. Let’s see how popular that law would be then.
