      Yup lol.

Also, people need to stop saying that this 22 year news veteran was “ignorant”. The bitch isn’t ignorant, she’s malicious and let her hate for Black women slip out on air.

“Ignorant” is the new way of letting White people off the hook for their thoughts and feelings and actions.

“We’ve had three female, African-American mayors in a row. They were all passionate public servants. Two resigned, though,” Bubala said. “Is this a signal that a different kind of leadership is needed to move Baltimore City forward?”

Two of our last 3 presidents have been dumb, incompetent, corrupt, old white guys. Maybe this is a signal that a different kind of leadership is needed to move the US forward.

“I am devastated that the words I used portrayed me as someone that I know I am not.”

No, girl, that is literally you. You used those words. You put them together. You said it. You made the point you insinuated. You don’t get to disown that.

Nobody out here is saying, “Every person that’s failed at this position is white, maybe we should disqualify white people from doing X.” But somehow that’s okay to insinuate about black people.

She probably considers herself an “ally,” too.

Yesterday I was having some drinks at a bar while watching the Warriors game, and an older white guy was walking by with his dogs, and some hispanic-looking dude rode by on his bicycle, and the white guy started screaming at him. Including calling him the n-word.

People I was sitting with kept wondering, “That dude’s not even black. Why call him the n-word?”

I responded, “Because that’s the worst thing he could think of. He wanted to call the guy the worst thing he could think of, and that’s why he said what he said.”

And the people I was with still just sat there, confused. They couldn’t understand it. They couldn’t comprehend that, even though no black people were involved in this scenario, the guy called him that word because it was the worst thing he could think of.

But it’s a bar and there was a basketball game on, and people aren’t really in the best place to inspect their own internal biases, so it was left at that.

Oh absolutely.  You hear it all the time in the worst of all forums: online gaming.  Calling someone the n-word is the worst thing you can call them.  White guys calling white guys that as far as the eye can see.

Yeah there were a few twitch and youtube streamers getting called out for using the word while they were streaming. Their responses were always the same: they were “frustrated” and it came out because they were angry. It tells you a lot that, when someone is angry, when they want to attack a person or an object or a concept, the worst thing they can think of to call it is that word.

You don’t even have to go that far. The first 43 POTUSes were all white and male. Three were impeached. One resigned.

If she had just left “African-American” and “female” out of the equation then her point would have been valid. Three mayors resigning is a sign something is wrong but there is a bigger issue.

This! “Two of our last three mayors have had to resign. We should look at how we vet and evaluate and cover potential candidates. What did we miss?” is a perfectly reasonable take. The fact that the mayors who resigned were black woman has nothing to do with anything, unless you inherently have a problem with black women in a position of power.

Just the two, but yes, there is a problem and the City Council is looking at charter reforms to help balance the powers at City Hall and create an avenue for them to impeach future mayors. But the voters pick who they pick. The question is how do we get better candidates on the front end so they don’t get exposed as charlatans on the back end?

Understand this: Black people and Muslims are the only groups in America that are ever held accountable as a collective for the actions of individuals. Using Catherine Pugh’s book scandal to question the leadership is black women is just another long like of examples to pull from.

Also women, Jews, LGBTQ+ persons, teenagers, persons with disabilities, impoverished persons, etc. Pretty much the only people who get treated as individuals are straight, christian, middle-class (and richer) white men.

      But your point still stands.

Bubala’s unreasonable and incorrect question is seen as racist because it is.

Questioning whether Baltimore needs a new direction of leadership based on the astute observation that the past mayors were all black women without examining their leadership styles, public positions, or platforms they advocated when they ran for office demonstrates this. If she asked this question because they were all Democrats, then it wouldn’t have been seen as unreasonable.

But, she didn’t and that’s why she was canned.
