Went into a post on the redditsphere about this topic, read a lot of hate towards Farrakhan and the first response was to defend the guy but then all of the unsavory shit hes said through the years came to mind and I had to just keep it moving. Dude is...problematic at best.

      “Dude is...problematic at best.”

As if this is about Farrakhan being antisemitic or “problematic”. Oh please. This is about exercising raw power and bringing independent black leaders & activists to heel, especially black critics of Israel. You don’t believe me? ask Bishop Desmond Tutu, Angela Davis, Mark Lamont Hill, Alice Walker, Mandela’s grandson, Tamika Mallory etc etc etc.

The irony about Farrakhan being banned from Facebook in the era of Trump & Stephen Miller(who is a Jewish white nationalist) occupying White House is rich, and the hypocrisy is thick.. Is Facebook gonna ban Rev Franklin Graham, Pastor John Hagee, Pastor Robert Jeffress for their homophobia, antisemitism, Islamophobia & sexism? Of course not! Are they gonna ban Laura Ingraham, Tucker Carlson, Rush Limbaugh, and what about Candace Owens who’s praised Hitler and is embraced by the same forces targeting the black community? Of course not. Wicked hypocrites.

If Farrakhan were truly strictly anti-israel, I’d agree with you. But he’s been broadly anti-semitic on more than a few occasions. He was fair game.

Farrakhan is much like Pat Buchanan: has a good grasp of history, says dangerous things, has right-wing answers.

He’s had strong criticisms about American imperialism and is pretty accurate on America’s goals and means to accomplish them. He’s said inflammatory things about certain ethnic/ religious/ racial groups, but is pretty non-directional on what or whether to do anything. His solutions seem to be 1) produce your own goods, 2) start a business, 3) if 1 and 2 don’t work, move to another country.

I don’t particularly care for him, but I find it scary that a private company that owns a “private” platform has decided what public discourse is. They really need to have this platform addressed as a publisher and not a private square, because that’s what it is. Them making this decision is just chilling speech (and I mean speech, not expression).

And to be clear, I don’t agree with Farrakhan, but I know enough to know *why* I don’t agree with him. Removing him from the public sphere (or private platform) just weakens people’s ability to know why they do or don’t agree with him.

Laughing at the conservatives exposing themselves over the description of Farrakhan as far right.

Back in “93 when I was a college freshman, I donated $100 to farrakhan’s proposed NOI community outreach center. The design was laid out on the front page of The Final Call. It was to be an oasis for the Black folks of Chicago. A full educational center, childcare, recreations, and more. Even though I lived in Memphis, I gave money that I really needed to help bring this to reality. So did a lot of other people. Now, I’ve seen on TV ‘kahn’s palace where he resides, but what I HAVEN’T seen is that fucking community center. I don’t care how long it’s been, I want my $100 back.

And yet Fox News and Trump are still given free reign on all forms of media. Really Facebook fuck off.

Random, but did you know Nation of Islam is cozying up with Scientology? Seriously bizarre. https://www.thedailybeast.com/inside-the-nation-of-islams-strange-ties-to-scientology

The Nation was Scientology before Scientology was even a speck in the eye of L. Ron Hubbard.  It’s hardly bizarre.

Caping for a guy whose response to this might very well be to go on a rant about putting Jews in ovens is a bold move.

Not even mad. And why you’re seperating out Ferret Con, I know why, but I don’t even care. Like, stan off to the side for him if you’d like because you wouldn’t dare do it fully in the light; I ain’t stanning a guy who had Malcolm X killed.

Facebook ain’t the government, thank god. Good for them for finally beginning to address this. Now, you next, Jack(ass) Dorsey.

Farrakhan is a bigot, antisemite and false activist. He’s no better than Jones or Yiannopoulos. He got exactly the outcome he deserved.

Still, the most powerful(ly dangerous) person in the world has every media outlet (social and otherwise) clamoring for the next sound bite.
