The release of his tax returns won’t change the minds of his supporters, nor his enemies, but it will really get under his orange skin. One his biggest fears is people finding out he’s not as rich as he claims.

Considering how much they try to hide and financial info, probably very little.  Except to irritate the orange boy in the room.

Pelosi campaigned on getting Trump’s taxes in October. They’ve got the law on their side how quickly they will be able to obtain them depends on if Trump decides to go to court.

It looks like they can get the returns, but it sounds like they’d still be confidential and anyone releasing them to the public would be committing a fairly serious crime.

The 1924 Revenue Act allows Congress to make the president’s tax returns public.

“Well, we would send you his tax returns, but, you see, we’re swamped here at the IRS. What with that democrat-induced shutdown at the beginning of the year, and all these current taxes we have to process. Plus, look at all this tariff money coming in from the Chinese! It’s incredible! And from Mexico and Canada and Europe! We’re just drowning in money here.

“Finally, Mexico finally decided to pay for the wall, because they knew there was no way they could go against trump, he’s just that strong of a leader. But in an effort to prank us, the deep state within the federal reserve cashed the check and paid us all in pennies. So now we have all of our staff counting pennies. But they’re proud to do it, because they have Lincoln on the front, and the party of lincoln is the party that got mexico to pay for the wall. But the counting is going slow, because dems keep showing up while we’re counting and start screaming out random numbers, causing everyone to lose count and we have to start all over.

“And that’s why we still need the emergency declaration.”

There’s a powerful chairman named Richard Neal? What state is he from?

Also, why does everyone in the Trump administration look like an honest-to-god cartoon character?

Massachusetts. The western part of the state. He has been in congress since ‘89 and was made chair of Ways and Means this year.

He looks like a standard issue 70 year old white male politician. A bit of crazy-eye in his official portrait. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Richard_Neal

It’s funny, I try to keep up on this stuff, but I’d literally never heard of the guy.  Usually, chairs of popular congressional committees are usually more well known.  He’ll be one to watch.  Ways and Means is second only to Appropriations, I think.

I find it interesting how the treasury secretary says he may leave it up to the irs head. Like, um, there’s a law that says “you do this”. Why is there discussion in this matter?

Oh right, it’s trump. They need to figure out what the framers of the constitution meant when they crafted the document that allowed lawmakers to pass this law, and then figure out whether it’s unconstitutional law.

Because, as we know, the republicans are all about the constitution.  When it suits them.

    Liar, liar, pants on fire.

Trump said he would release his tax returns. He lied.

Why should we trust anybody who works for him or any asshole republican that spends their time lying and fucking up the country and looking for new ways to screw people over.

There really ought to be a law that allows me to hit Steve Mnuchin in the face with a shovel 2, maybe 3 times a day.
