When “conservatives” whine about how hard it is to put someone to death in this country, and how good the death penalty is, they usually cite the reason as being that they don’t want to be paying these guys for three squares and a bed for the rest of their lives.

So one would have to think, then, that they’d be all over ending pre-trial incarceration for most people, just for the money savings alone. Especially considering that many people end up in jail for longer than they’d have to be in if they’d be found guilty, which isn’t a guarantee either.

But we don’t. We do make sure old white guys don’t get long sentences, and can disregard judges at their will, and no one cares. We also don’t hear about being imprisoned without actually being convicted of anything, unless, again, the person has money.

Hardway, what about those who get in trouble not because they actually did anything, but are said to do something and can’t get out of jail until they can get in court and prove their innocence?

But, I know, you live in that world that believes the only people who are in jail are people who did something illegal and therefore should be in jail.
