If whites can’t say the n-word neither can blacks.

It’s really not that fucking complicated. I can go to the convenience store wearing nothing but a thong, but I can’t expect to not get judged for it. So go ahead and say the n-word everywhere you go, just don’t be surprised when your life gets difficult. After all, you’re not the only one with freedom of speech.

But to them, freedom of speech means speech without consequences

Personally, I think that the Clapback should come with the subtitle “Hit dogs holler.” Also the pure seething anger from trolls pretending they are black is always a great way to end a long week, combined with heavy dashes of failure to understand what freedom of speech really means.

They sure as hell hate being reminded that their racism is not acceptable and it becoming public knowledge could cost them dearly.

They’re always so unconvincing. “Dear sir, I would like to begin by noting that I am a colored fellow much like yourself. I have attached a personal photograph (a ‘selfie’, if you will) as proof of this - please ignore the Getty Images watermark...”

    Dear Monica,

You’d be a lot more comfortable if you’d remove the stick from your ass.

If your first grader is clueless enough that he needs you to explain to him why blacks can use the n-word but he can’t, don’t write emails about it, face reality and get a specialist to figure out which type of learning disability he has and if it can be helped.

Eh. First graders are generally pretty clueless. And understandably so.

      Weird flex.

I disagree, first graders haven’t learned a lot of facts yet, that’s what getting an education is about but, if they’re normal, they already instinctively grasp social cues. It's why they're able to press the right buttons to bully someone or make them feel better. I might understand a two or three year old having this question but not an older child.

“What had happened was...” isn’t a term, it’s a phrase. Seems like ‘Monica’ is pretending to be educated as well as pretending to be black.

I know she wrote “this will be posted to social media” but all I saw was “I will be informing your manager.”

Michael, I now live for Fridays and your responses in the Clapback Mailbag.  Some of these readers (do they actually read for comprehension?) are very sad to say the least.  Keep keeping us informed.  Thanks for all of the other content as well!  Y’all rock!

“2. Do you consider the NAACP a worthwhile organization to join for a white person trying to fight racism (or at least trying to minimize the extent to which they might be accidentally making it worse)? I looked into BLM, but there’s nothing close to me (2+ hour drive each way).”

bob should know that the naacp was established by both black and white people around 1909. after the formation and election of officers, w.e.b. dubois was the only black official elected during that time.  mr. bob should feel comfortable joining an organization that was formed with the help and support of his people to combat the hatred and viciousness of his people.

I was hoping someone would add this. The given answer of “this is what they do - do you think it’s worthy?” was an excellent approach. History and context are always valuable too - part of what makes this place great.

“paleo-vegan (I only eat animals that don’t eat meat)“

Thank you. that is the most useful use of the entire “paleo” eating fad I have seen.
