“inviting God’s judgment on our nation when we shake our fist at Him and say, “We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage””

The audacity of a religion to think they own the very concept of marriage.

Christians. Aren’t. The. Only. People. Who. Get. Married.

    Christians. Did. Not. Invent. Marriage.

Marriage used to serve a much different purpose even within Christianity not that long ago. It was much more a property transaction. They do things every day counter to the doctrines of Christianity and yet that is the sticking point, half of them being divorced anyway.

Newman, a “very committed Christian,” told Campus Reform that she felt “punched in the stomach” by the university’s statement.

White People, “Christians”, always playing the victim card from the shit they started in the first place.

    Fuck you, Newman.

Note that she didn’t quit her job entirely.  Just the administrative part.  So she still gets to be a professor, which doesn’t pay poorly.  And if she’s making decisions like this during her day-to-day then I’m guessing no one is sorry to see her step out of her authority role.

Not only did she resign as Dean, she’s apparently staying on as a professor??? Wow, that should make for such awkwardness that she may not last long in that role, either. And they should watch her and her interactions with students CLOSELY. She could easily drum up anti-whatever sentiment with students to create some real problems for the school.

Also, fuck that restaurant. You wanna be a successful business? Stay the fuck out of things like that, or deal with the backlash of supporting bigotry. I do love when business owners show their real colors and the world shows them how most people really feel about it.

So she puts Chick fil A on equal footing with Christ.

People like her create more atheists than people like Richard Dawkins ever will.  Keep up the good work.

Well, you see, when Christ blessed the chicken nuggets ... wait, no, He didn’t do that. Well, when He partook of the waffle fries ... no, no, He didn’t do that either. When He divided the grilled chicken among the ... nope.

Never mind, I got nothing. Well, I’ve got a job, which is more than we can say for Newman.

I’m atheist, and Richard Dawkins almost converted me to Christianity.

Thank god the Christians were there to set me right!

So.... she’s still working there, but she doesn’t want to be a dean there? Because her school decided something through democratic means? Really?

It wasn’t through a democratic means. The student body wanted Chick Fil A. The University decided based on the Cathy family stance on LGBTQ+ rights that it’s values did not mesh with what Rider wanted to present as it’s values and decided to go against the student body choice.  I think they made a decision that was in line with what they want to present to the world.

      It wasn’t through democratic means.

According to the Washington Times, Rider administrators sent students a survey asking which restaurant they would most like to see on campus. Though Chick-fil-A won handily, the school decided against the Atlanta-based chain due to its history of homophobic sentiment.

Which is fine because a school doesn’t have to be a democracy. I agree with their decision to override their students’ democratic choice on this.

Every so often I write a letter to Chic-Fil-A, letting them know I won’t frequent their business no matter what. Not even for a cup of lemonade; if I want lemonade I’ll buy Newman’s Own. “I’d rather give my money to Paul Newman than Dan Cathy,” I usually remind them, “I realize that Paul Newman is dead, but I’d rather do business with a dead Paul Newman than a live Dan Cathy”.

Live by the sword, die by the sword.

If you put your personal stance out there as a reason why people should frequent your business, you have to put up with the blowback of the people who do not agree with that stance. They will not want your business to succeed.

... stop complaining, this is the path you chose to market your business.

This is also why I have never stepped foot in a Hobby Lobby
