The only reason anyone thought she was planning to run again was because of some third-hand gossip a former campaign aide said. She repeatedly denied that she was going to run, and she wasn’t lying about it. The fact that people didn’t believe her doesn’t mitigate that.

  But she’s supposed to be part of the most competent political machines of the last 25+ years; failing to understand she was at risk under the VERY simple electoral college guidelines is a massive failure of strategy. She kept hitting the core states for dollars instead of getting out in the ones where races were competitive, despite those states begging for her to make campaign visits.

I read a poll data analysis that said if you satisfy black middle aged mothers you win because the issues that black mothers care about (health care, jobs, safe communities) are the ones that really matter to most Americans.
Hillary did this. But, because our nation hates women we got Trump. And because America hates anyone that minorities support, we got Trump. She earned 3 million more votes, but we got Trump.
Root writers seem pretty comfortable beating up on Hillary. I think you’re aiming at the wrong target. All she did was dare to be a woman running for office and try to support other women and the issues the most Americans care about.

  I don’t blame anyone who won’t forgive Clinton (first step would be their admitting a mistake), but I’m always curious why Bill is so embraced by the black community (our “first black president”). Hillary, I get—she’s a woman of a certain age who has had to put up with her husband’s shit and we all understand how that works and she’s better now that he’s in the background. People relate. But why does Bill seem to still be popular?

Now that you can come out from under the bed and stop crying about Scary Email Grandma here’s an interesting thread from someone doing focus group testing of black women democrats in South Carolina. I’m just posting some highlights. (Disclaimer: I have no real feelings for or against Biden or Harris.)
