They must have busted a collective nut writing about this “corruption”. It must be so confusing for them being so sexually attracted to her and terrified of her at the same time.

I used to run in some fun circles back in my D.C. days. Black Fem Doms used to regale us with stories about how upper-level conservatives loved to be abused by them. They like to be scared and aroused by dark-skinned women.

The obsession the conservatives - particularly the male conservatives - have with her is beyond creepy at this point.

See the Republican upthread who can’t criticize her without trashing her looks. The fragility is unfathomable!

I agree. Personally, I think many conservative men have a crush on her.

“It is totally legal...to hire family members

they paid him through an intermediary — in order to obscure the fact

Both payments were reported...to the FEC

So they supposedly did this, and then supposedly ‘hid’ it, and then reported everything to the FEC as required by law.

    Cool.

I heard Cohen is a lying liar, so you can’t believe anything he said.

Remember when Cohen said ‘no collusion’? Oh that totally proves 10k Liar is innocent!

    GodDAMN conservatives are stupid.

      GodDAMN conservatives are stupid.

Sure, a lot of them are, but a lot of it is that “conservative” is simply a banner a variety of factions fight under. Most of them have no actual allegiance to “conservatism” as anything but low taxes, keeping their section of the trough clean and winning. Honestly, a bunch of them only look stupid if you frame things under their supposed ideology.

This thing with AOC seems to be another example of a tactic they really like, deeply grounded in psychology, which is even obvious bullshit leaves traces in our memory. So, even though this doesn’t pass the sniff test (although that’s not to say that there definitely isn’t something shady here) and nothing comes of this, on their umpteenth attempt, some part of your mind is going to say, “hey, AOC being shady seems familiar!” Their repetition will color people’s impressions of AOC.

The “best” part is, what can you fight this, without being easily waved off as yet another partisan hack?

So, even though this doesn’t pass the sniff test (although that’s not to say that there definitely isn’t something shady here) and nothing comes of this

The big problem here boils down to the largest problem in America, beyond health care, or the environment, or anything else; ALL those things boil down to education in America is not up to par. Education, knowledge, empowers and enables people to see through this kind of shit and understand what’s going on. I personally don’t even agree there is ‘something shady’ here, I don’t even have that in my mind. I’ll follow any details and decide, but the fact remains without hearing any explanation aside from this first introduction which is full of spin and from a very specific point of view, that there’s nothing here at the moment. There could be a perfectly good or reasonable reason for it. The fact is that even this angle as presented here is not very good ‘journalism’, it isn’t even an attempt besides presenting a story for clicks.

I’m well-informed enough to see these things, and it isn’t going to leave a ‘trace’ in my consciousness for the future. I try to make judgments based on all the facts available, regardless of my feelings or how they reflect on people/organizations within a given ‘outline’ of a narrative. There IS an objective truth within every single narrative, sometimes we never get the whole picture, but it’s an informed, intelligent person’s job to accept that and not draw conclusions that aren’t specifically laid out in fact. Some people will say, for example, “Well how do YOU explain the universe then?” And I say, “Well, I simply accept we don’t have all the answers and it’s irresponsible to draw a firm conclusion, I’m fine with ‘not knowing’, and I won’t lose sleep.”

It’s also sad that many, many people don’t have such high standards for things they believe or hold to be true. I think better education would improve that, would have more people not needing to have an answer to everything. It’s sad that America is a global leader financially (and used to be, morally) and meanwhile our people by and large are so poorly educated and incurious.

I’m just confused why we’re giving a right-wing think tank direct attribution and quotes for this. This could have easily been reported from another source, right?  I’m not comfortable with this at all, and I say that as someone who is not a fanboy of AOC.

She needs to put someone in charge of her offices finances and that person needs to be bulletproof. Love her or not (disclaimer: I’m in the latter category), people are going to examine her finances with a fine-toothed comb so if she’s as smart as I am constantly told she is she will get ahead of this kind of thing.

Sooo, the New Congress PAC hired Roberts for two months, and paid him $6k. What am I missing here? What’s the part that’s bad, exactly?

Ibn seems to have left this important part out of the post:

The Coolidge Reagan Foundation is seeking the FEC to investigate if the campaign violated finance laws that state campaign contributions “shall not be converted by any person to personal use.”

In any case, even if they were able to prove this - and this stuff is hard to prove - it’d likely result in a minor fine, I’d think.  Unless she was stupid enough to text or email or call someone at the PAC and tell them “Yeah, when I pay you, give this money to Riley” there is no way they are going to be able to prove she paid the PAC so as to funnel the money to him.

Idiotic right-wing websites always conjure up nonsense like this. And then idiotic Hotep “activists” often times pick it up and run with it as “facts” to flamethrow in a Vlog that they don’t trust her Because Reasons (and usually because their own Ankh-right candidate didn’t get past the primary.)

If they really wanted to put the hurt on her, (in a pretty limited way, but you work with what you got, I guess) they’s say:

“Shucks, with all that crazy talk of hers we kinda didn’t like her, but gosh, in the end, she’s just like us, I think maybe we’ll get along!”

The conservatives have pretty much racked up all the L’s trying to go after AOC in their normal way, time to mix it up. Use some reverse psychology or whatever you wanna call it.

Actually, if they wanted to stop catching the L, they should just stop rabidly focusing on her. :|

Ok, ill point it out. This happened in 2017. Which is a full year before anyone ever heard of Cortez. Like what was the pac thinking “oh, hey, she’s going to easily defeat this incumbent, let’s get some cash to the boyfriend to keep her interested!”?

Also, this is a PAC, and as such is not supposed to have any coordination at all with candidates (come on people, stop laughing, I’m serious) so it has no connection to the campaign. Thus not even understanding this “paid by a third party” business garbage.

I wonder if she wrote a check. That way it wouldn’t be a crime.
