And ofcourse on social media everyone is blaming her friends (per usual), his mother (for not raising him right apparently...basically everyone but the actual murderer. This is local to me and it’s all everyone has been talking about. I’m sad and angry for her and her family/friends. Sick of this shit.

Yeah the implication that part of the blame rests on others—the victim, friends of the victim, the perpetrator’s mother—rather that the individual who perpetrated this heinous crime is annoying as fuck. The decision to be a creep is made unilaterally.

Yeah the fact that people are blaming her friends is crazy to me. I used to live in Boston and there have been plenty of times where I left a club or bar on my own. Sometimes I said goodbye to my friends when I left, sometimes I did not. I never expected my friends to escort me home, or even to the T in some cases.

In the long history of our species, the biggest threat to any woman is a man.

And only men can change this. But first they’d have to acknowledge the problem honestly, and then they’d have to possess the desire to change it. So...in other words, it’s never going to change.

    Why? Like, just why?

My question isn’t really about a motive. I’m just talking out loud. Like, why did he have to kill her? So, she won’t sleep with you or changed her mind or whatever. Murder and death is unnecessary. This is just unnecessary!

I’m so hurt for the family, for her daughter, and for Correia herself. No one should have to die in terror like this.

Sigh. I can’t even deal with the world we live in today. There’s just too much evil out here. No love, empathy, or compassion.

I have a first date scheduled tonight and, like, this story is seriously taking the joy out of it. To traverse the world as a black woman, letting your guard down at any time, feels so hard sometimes. I really wish Jassy’s life hadn’t ended this way. My heart hurts...

Um, not well. There are moments of solace and happiness but over all it’s terror dome shit show. I don’t speak for all. I am just speaking for myself. I sometimes watch this scene to cheer me up.

On top of everything else, the poor daughter. I hope someone is watching out and taking care of her.

I once received threats for rejecting a relationship with a man I slept with. I made it clear I wanted nothing more from him and he began following me to my job. I was able to get a restraining order but I’ve never really felt safe since.

I am so glad they found her body. Thanks for reporting on this and not leaving the concerned hanging. We desperately need to teach women how to protect themselves. We need real strategies for safety. It is so hard to accept that we are prey in a very toxic and hazardous environment.
