Ohio Rep. Jim Jordan and North Carolina Republican Rep. Mark Meadows... have referred Cohen to the Justice Department

The same Jim Jordan that covered up sexual abuse for over a decade at Ohio State? That asshole is passing judgement on someone else? I really wanted Cohen to remind him that he needs to go clean up his own affairs before pointing fingers anywhere else.

But all this does is show how really desperate they are. If they want to hold a liar accountable, all they need to do is go to the White House: they can find any number of liars to choose from.

How is it that they continue to howl about Cohen’s criminal behaviour yet seem to totally ignore the fact that every illegal/questionable/shitty thing he did was directly on behalf of the guy whose ass the entire GOP has been kissing for the last two years?

I wonder if this frivolous filing could be used as evidence of witness tampering by Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows? They are obviously doing it to please Trump but combined with Matt Gaetz’s tweet it does appear to be a concerted effort to stop Cohen from speaking about Trump’s going ons.

As a side note like classic superheroes many villains also had alliterative names. Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows need to watch out.

Including notorious super-felons like Peter Parker, Miles Morales, Reed Richards, Sue Storm, Stephen Strange, Matt Murdock, Pepper Potts and Bruce Banner? And if you’re correct that alliteration is the source of all evil, then the true overlord of crime must be the quadruply-gifted J. Jonah Jameson Jr.!

Lol two liars demand to investigate another liar who helped cover up their own lies.

Welcome to “the game” of U.S. politics. It’s a shame that game is starting to fall apart thanks in part to some wonderful women.

Cohen “privately told friends and colleagues, including in seized text messages, that he expected to be given a prominent role and title in the new administration”

Accurate. “I expected to be invited to the party.”

“I did not want to go to the White House.”

Also accurate. “I did not want to go to the party, and I would have politely said no had I been invited, but I am insulted that I was not invited to the party at all.”

You’d have to be a pretty stupid person to think these two scenarios conflict. Or a desperate one. But probably just stupid.

Yes. Exactly this. I’ve told my wife “I think they’ll offer me a job, but I don’t really want to work there.” No one with a working brain would think that’s a contradictory statement.

The Republicans are trying to distract everyone from Cohen’s damaging testimony.

Cohen is a known liar, so it is plausible that he could again lie.

Just because it is plausible, does not mean that he did so.

My guess is that he did not lie, because he is not stupid and he sees what is happening to Manafort.

What is really scaring the Republicans is that he has documentation to back up at least several of his assertions. Note how they kept hammering on him about documents in storage. They kept demanding to know why they were withheld, when in fact Mueller’s people seized then returned them.

And remember how Trump reacted when those documents were first seized? “This is an attack on our country!”

Goddamn right they’re scared of those files.

This whole Republican temper tantrum is wild. Like, Cohen is up there as the quintessential cautionary of tale of what happens when you rider-or-die with Trump - like, the dude literally told them at the hearing the other day that they were doing exactly what he had done for Trump for 10 years, and look what happened to him - and...they persisted.

Everyone knows it’s over. They will destroy everything in the room on the way out and pull out every dirty trick in the book, but it’s over. They know this - they know this orange ho ain’t loyal. And yet they are going to go down with the ship. Because. Trump may or may not eventually end up in prison; at this point, I’ll just be happy with ruining his empire and his life. But what has been made very, very clear by our legal institutions is that the goons, the hangers-on, the sycophants...WILL end up in prison the harder they stan for the guy.

Is this what they want? Is this how they want this to end? Because if so...SO. BE. IT.

I don’t understand the extreme loyalty he garners. He’s proven time and time again that he’s not loyal to people himself. That he will, at the first opportunity, throw you under the bus to save his own skin. Why put yourself in the line of fire of possibly losing your livelihood and freedom for a man who only cares for himself? Is power really that attractive to these people that they’re willing to risk everything?

Jim Jordan and Mark Meadows are both known liars. By their own logic, I cannot trust their claim that I can’t trust Cohen because he’s a liar.

Since everyone has lied, again... by the Jordan/Meadows logic... no one on earth is a reliable witness, cannot be trusted, and therefor should no longer speak on anything ever. Silence should fall over the land, distrust should be the default position of every person, and the entire idea of civilization becomes clearly untenable.

Anarchy will reign as soon as Jordan and Meadows get their way.

M’kay - they do realize Cohen has spent hours with Mueller’s team. Sure, he might have lied yesterday, but you know the shit he spilled to Mueller (and the committee) was verifiable or he’d already be in prison.
