I wish I could go forward in time (right now) to listen to the GOP hacks explain their lack of spine during the Trump (disaster) years. How they let him trample all over the constitution and democracy. I wonder what shape their new con game will look like in a few years? Are they betting voters will forgot?

How will they be able to criticize the next democratic president on ANYTHING after being so silent on Trump?

They’ll do it because they are hypocrites. Republicans aren’t bothered by a need to be consistent.

A pretty solid bet.  If there’s one thing I’ve learned, reality means nothing to them, and consequences don’t exist.

    The dominos; they fall.

I keep seeing people talking about how they likely don’t have enough votes for a veto override, but that entirely misses the point that this is important for no other reason than to put the GOP on record on this. We’ll worry about that problem when we get there. Right now, this is about formally keeping a record of the heroes and villians of the republic when all is said and done.

Yep. Let’s see just how many of these assholes has the guts to go on record and say they voted to overturn the Constitution of the United States. That’ will be the leading statement in every attack ad when they’re up for reelection:

Mitch McConnell. TRAITOR. McConnell voted to give Trump power to overthrow Congress and the will of the voters, in direct violation of the Constitution of the United States of America, for which generations of patriotic Americans fought and died. This TRAITOR also ...

      It writes itself.

It will be good if the Senate can pass the bill.

Next question: when the lazy corrupt racist orange santorum-covered enemy of the people vetoes it, will that piss off enough institutionalist Republicans to muster 67 total votes in the Senate and a 2/3 supermajority in the House to override?

No, not at all. You seriously underestimate the GOP’s desire to be consistent or not-hypocrites. If a president Sanders declared Climate Change a national emergency, they would act shocked and appalled and pretend that they would NEVER do something like that, they’re revise history and talk about how dangerous it was at the border, etc.

I’m shocked, shocked I say, that the republicans are going against everything they said during the obama administration!

What will they do next, go against their belief in balanced budgets and lowering deficits by slashing taxes during a boom economy? Oh, right, they did that too.

It is completely astounding to me that the Senate Republicans are so eager to give up their own power as Senators by propping up this president in his efforts to bypass them.
