Phenominal! Looking through old illustrations has become one of my favorite online past-times. There are so many interestng things to be found, I always want to know more.

    Illustration for article titled

Like this. I understand she’s a witch and that’s frowned on, but is no-one concerned that she’s being grassed out by a talking dog?

About then if lighting struck your house and it burned down they thought it was god’s will and you probably deserved it, so no.

I have never felt good about the trend to adult coloring books. I’m an artist and became one, in part, because I refused to color inside the lines. And, as someone who just retired from working decades in an art museum, I think there are better ways to connect with the art. Sorry.

Most people won’t, because they have self-identified as ‘not talented enough’.  It’s great that you never suffered from that kind of obstacle, but for those that do, this sort of thing is an accessible vector toward taking time to really focus on an illustration, and invest something of yourself into it.  It sounds to me like having the opportunity to color led you to a better understanding of yourself, even if that understanding was ‘I find this too limiting and want to do it my way.’  Don’t dismiss the opportunity for others to experience the same epiphany, or even a different one.

Good response. But, please don’t think I never suffered from “not-talented-enough.” It happens all the time. ;-)

Over a hundred museums and libraries around the world make coloring books......................has anyone told Trumpy, apparently he has a great collection of crayons. Mind you, looking at this subject matter they might be a little bit too much for him to cope with.
