So far, this R-rated franchise has grossed around $1.6 billion on a production budget slightly south of $160 million.  Did anyone seriously think Disney would fuck with a ROI like that?

yeah. that’s always been my thought. They like money. Their money has been made from their brand, which has largely meant “Family Friendly”. They are more than willing to change or add to that brand if it means $$$.

A person used ROI (correctly) in a superhero comment who isn’t me! I am so happy. Seriously, its almost like people forget these films are business at times.

I’d love to see a Spider-Man/Deadpool crossover, where Deadpool realizes that he has one precious F-word he can use and hoards it until the end of the film.

And then Peter uses it before he can get to it and they fight to the death.

The bad news is Ryan Reynolds has (rather cryptically) said there will probably not be a “Deadpool 3.” However there does seem to be active development of an Xforce movie that would essentially be “Deadpool 3" without focusing on Deadpool.

I’m cool with it, as long as I get more Domino, Cable, and Deadpool of course.

(And NTW and Blind Al, and Yukio...)

The bigger question, though, remains unanswered. Will that continued R-rated world of Deadpool extended into the PG-13 world of the Avengers or, eventually, the X-Men? We still don’t know, but we’ll bring you more as we learn it.

Honestly, I could care less about crossovers.  If they keep putting out good Deadpool films I’ll be happy.  Not everything has to be connected after all.

The whole of the MCU is about crossovers now. In a few years, they will be pumping out 6+ movies a year, there are just too many characters now.

So, you do care about crossovers?

I’m really not at all worried about him being censored when he mixes with PG-13 properties. His self-aware nature will handle that well, self-bleeping, referencing his limitations, more subtle double-entendre, etc. Honestly, his profane nature is the LEAST of the difficulties they’ll have by trying to utilize him in the other properties. It’s his very fourth wall-breaking, self-aware nature that will seriously fuck with the rules of any of their properties that they want to take super seriously. Not saying it’s insurmountable at all, but that’s a way bigger writing challenge than censoring him.

That can easily be handled. If Deadpool is in a Avengers or X-Men movie they can show him talking to a wall which would be him trying to break the fourth wall and the characters would just think he was acting crazy but in his movies he would actually be doing it.

Good. And keep him separate from the MCU. He’s fine on his own.

They are spending billions and billions for this to happen, it won't be staying separate.

Keeping the 20th Century Fox brand alive (even if it’s just a label for R-Rated movies) is a good idea. Otherwise they’d have to revive Touchstone as a label for this stuff.

Send Star Wars back there too.

The movies don’t seem right without the fanfare intro.

I don’t get the obsession on “Deadpool must be R-rated”. The best Deadpool runs I’ve read wouldn’t really need to be r-rated to be adapted. Curse words, violence is not what make Deadpool a good character.

I don't know that it has to be R-rated, but that it found success there and fans want it to be what they liked.
