Pretty sure we’re going to see evidence that she did not mistakenly enter the apartment. That always sounded like police bullshit.

I don’t know if was police bullshit, or bullshit of Amber Guyger’s own making, but the murder charge itself would suggest that she could not have entered the apartment accidentally.

I have upon occasion, when preoccupied, stepped out the elevator on the wrong floor. But I have never failed to immediately recognize the fact in time to step back into the elevator before the door closed.

Guyger’s entire story smells to high heaven. I hope that Guyger gets the justice that she truly deserves.

This is a good step in her hopefully getting significant jail time. One thing that still bothers me is why her drug and alcohol tests are still not reported, but they wasted no time mentioning that he had weed in his apartment.

Well, technically.... they didn’t mention he had weed in his apartment. They released the results of a search warrant of the apartment (which is questionable itself), that happened to note they found weed, along with police equipment and other things.

See, COMPLETELY DIFFERENT! Now why they released that information, I have no idea (I’m sure it had nothing to do with trying to sell a cover story though, cops would never do that!).

The most fucked up thing about that report is most of the other shit listed was police equipment that obviously belonged to Guyger but when it’s weed the immediate implication was that it was Jean’s. If they had found Guyger unregistered drop gun, they’d have claimed it was Jean’s too and her ass would be back on the street.

I could never understand the DA saying originally that manslaughter was what she was going for, except that she was trying to help out her ‘partners’ in crime and go easy on this so-called cop.

But unless there was proof that somehow Jean Botham was shot accidentally, it’s not manslaughter. Pulling out a gun, pointing it, and pulling the trigger shows full intent on killing someone. Turning out that you somehow were in the wrong apartment, and everything else, is completely meaningless.

If Botham had walked into her apartment and killed him, she could easily argue justifiable homicide. If Botham had walked into her apartment and killed her, is there any doubt that he’d been charged with murder?

No cop is ever off duty if they are carrying their weapon. So lets kill that noise.

Is there any difference, in your mind, between a police-issued weapon and a privately-owned weapon that happens to be owned by a cop? Your point is really interesting and true but I’m wondering* if you think it would have mattered if Botham had been murdered (by a cop) with a non-police-issued gun. Or does the fact that a cop is holding a gun, regardless of how they came by that gun, mean that they are on-duty?

As a thought experiment the variables are endless. Most departments and fed agencies that officer or agent works for your off time is an illusion and these people are always ‘on’. And I think you mean a “Oh shit! I have just fucked up.” scenario

The key phrase for me is “door lock data.” If it’s what I think it is, her whole story has completely fallen apart.

One step at a time. Some of y’all were acting like she wouldn’t even get charged. Like, we got to take things as they come until things get better.

Will it stick?  We’ll cross that bridge when we get to it.

I hope that she is tried, convicted, and - most importantly! - turned into a lesson that keeps it all from happening again.

honestly, while i want to believe they’ll stick with the charge or murder, they wont; it’ll get dropped down to involuntary manslaughter and she’ll be given 6-12 months in “prison” and 2 years probation; a reduced sentence due to her previous job.

It was already manslaughter originally, when the charges were originally brought by the Texas Rangers. It was upped to murder by the grand jury after they heard the case

BTW, notice how quiet the police have been on this investigation? There’s been like no leaks, no discussions, no releases of information. None. When that black man shot up dallas in 2016 and killed those cops, there were all sorts of information out about what they found out about the shooter within a day of the shooting. We heard all sorts of stuff.

When it’s a cop, it’s apparently all critical and needs to be kept internal...
