In the next day or two, I wouldn’t be surprised to find out Bradford was being a hero, a good guy with a gun chasing the actual gunman. But, you know, he was black, so by definition, not a good guy.

Also waiting to hear how it turns out he was shot in the back. And video shows the police just saw him and shot.

Because, you know, it just wouldn’t be shocking to hear that. Shocking would be video of the officers trying to get him to drop the gun.

Which is why the whole idea of good guys with guns acting like superheros to stop bad guys with guns is a load of bollocks. The police arriving at the scene of a shooting has no way of distinguishing good guys from bad guys, and no time to be figuring it all out. So, they let their implicit bias (or explicit bias aka racism) do the talking, and shoot the African-American first, because they think that’s the most likely candidate for being the bad guy with a gun.

Letting and expecting everybody to carry guns is just the perfect recipe for indiscriminate and discriminate innocents and shooting survivors to be murdered by vigilantes and the police.

Exactly. If you’re a “good guy with a gun” and you’re white, you won’t get shot. Also, if you’re a “bad guy with a gun” and you’re white, you won’t get shot.

Of course, the trigger-happy cops saw a brother with a gun and took him out. The only thing shocking to me is that they came back so soon and admitted they fucked up. Usually, they would cover it up and try to pin the shooting on this dearly departed veteran.

If progressives are smart, they will gain more leverage by being angry that the real shooter got away. I know in a better world, we should be more angry about the innocent young man. But, let’s get real. This is Birmingham America.

Regarding your surprise at them admitting they fucked up, allow me to explain my state’s horrible bullshit: in the eyes of the white voter and power base, this is not admitting they fucked up. It reads that way to decent and reasonable people, but this is actually a message to the “Lord Joe”s and “Dee Plored”s of the world to say “he was a thug, and he still deserved it.” Note the emphasis on how he was “fleeing the scene and brandishing a handgun.” He “likely” did not fire the rounds. To the sizable number of good, Christian white folks in the community, this reads as confirmation that he had it coming, and his own actions led to his death. Check out some of the bootlicking "thank you for being racist murderers" comments on the Hoover PD's statement.

I like how the very same people that will tell you how it’s so great that you can open carry in Chick fil A will be the same people that will say the cops had to shoot immediately because the guy had a gun on him. (May have had a gun. This post doesn’t make it clear if he was armed or not.)

And who feels the need to open-carry at a chick fil a? I’ve never been to a chick fil a where I thought “Oh crap, something bad’s going to go down!”. a McDonald’s sure (but at a mcdonald’s, that actually is talking about the burgers).

First they assassinated him then they assassinated his character and wypipo, not known for thinking deeply if at all, gleefully parroted the fuckshit because who cares about another negro being shot dead so long as no one white was hurt.

Once again cops show us how selective their ability to bring in an armed suspect alive is.

There are a lot of “white”people who do in fact care when an innocent black person is killed & then their character is immediately assassinated to further justify the killing. I have been saying for years now that the police need to SLOW DOWN in their response to ANY SITUATION they are called to, this would prevent so many innocent lives being destroyed as well as keep numerous officers from being shot themselves! What good does it do to charge blindly into a chaotic scene & place themselves in danger while also shooting/ killing innocent civilians (some who are only trying to help or stay alive themselves). They then will say whatever necessary to justify their actions and lay blame anywhere but where it belongs. Tamir Rice would still be alive had that approach been taken! That young man was executed plain & simple. I cringe every time I read or hear about another African american dying at the hands of those who are supposed to protect. Another mother weeping over the casket of their loved one whose life is destroyed in every way possible and no one is ever held accountable. I can only beg that the day comes quickly where African Americans can rest easily knowing when their children, brothers sisters, fathers & mothers leave the house that they will come home without being shot & killed or facing years in prison for something they didn’t do. I am very much a white person who cares deeply for any & all who this affects!

Obviously guilty of something. See, his picture? Full of melanin. Just like the quick decision to kill him - full of bad decisions and bullshit. Did he even have a gun when they shot him? Smh. It only takes the right officer to have a cool head and bring these folks in alive. Yep, cool-headed officers and white-skinned victims. As is the case with the shooting in Pittsburgh after killing 12 people, he had a better chance of being taken alive than I do being pulled over with my permit in my wallet, me in the driver’s seat and my weapon in a locked trunk.

Don’t be fooled, the system is working exactly as designed.

The ALM crowd SHOULD be conflicted right now. This involved the two institutions they pretend to love the most: cops and military. Throw in “good guy with a gun” and their heads should be spinning. Of course, his melanin already made their decision for them now, didn’t it?

There are several, just like there are laws against Congressmen lying and even laws against Presidents lying (thoughh you’d never know it since January of 2017).

The trick is that you have to have an executive system - from the prosecuting attorneys to the LEOs - who is willing to enforce them.

That - to put it as euphemistically as possible - is where as a culture we keep “getting stuck”.

Lying and Lying under oath are two completely different things. Cops lie all the time, publicly or in private (say, when questioning subjects). They’ll lie to the press if they feel like it.

But, supposedly, lying on arrest warrants, official reports, etc. is an act of perjury. And yet, very few cops, when caught, seem to ever get prosecuted. Even those who’ve recanted their statements as being false have not been prosecuted (I remember this from a case in Ferguson, MO, where a person was arrested, beat up in jail, then charged with destroying public property because his blood got on the officers’ uniforms! - And he was found guilty, because, you know, cops beating up an inmate was called constitutional, because it didn’t result in a permanent injury! Anyway, two cops recanted their statements but ‘somehow’ were not charged).

Obvious what happened. Two thugs from Fairfield and the inner city Birmingham came to the mall, started dissing each other, and pulled their guns. Shots fired. Bradford, being another thug, pulled his gun wanting to get in on the fun. Then the heroes of this story, the police, come in on their white horses, spot the thug wielding his ar 15 like firearms, shouting “I’m going to kill all you pigs!” The brave heroes, after trying to get him to drop his gun 15times, then attempting to disarm him with non lethal force, only to be repelled, finally did the only thing they could do, which was to shoot him, saving a flock of white school kids who were heading his way.

At least that’s the way white hooverites see it.

I mean, look at the apology. It’s not really an apology beyond saying they got the original report wrong. Not apologizing for the loss of life; not apologizing for shooting the guy. No, they “regret” that the “initial media release” was incorrect. This “apology” is nearly less than nothing.

They regret having to admit that they shot the wrong person, which is not the same as regretting that they shot the wrong person.

So I live near Hoover, and allI can say is fuck Hoover and Hoover PD so hard. I am obviously a goofy ass white dude, but HPD profiles hardcore. The worst example that comes to mind is, while working at a retail store in Hoover, one of our managers was sitting in his car in the parking lot talking on the phone before his shift when this Barney Fyffe asshole pulls behind him with lights and siren going and basically accusing him of casing the place to rob it, even though my manger has his damn uniform and badge on for the same retail place. This same manager was part time for my store and his full time job is that he is a state parol officer with a badge and gun and he used to be a cop for Birmingham PD. When he showed the Hoover cop his ID with badge next to it, the dumbass didn’t apologize and even looked at the badge like it was fake. He said had he mentioned his service weapon was in his glovebox, he would probably have been shot. My manager was always a fairly happy go lucky guy but that night I have never seen him so pissed the fuck off and rightly so. I have heard so many similar encounters from my black coworkers of Hoover cops pulling them over for driving while black it makes me furious. In short short, Fuck Hoover as a city and Fuck Hoover PD

And there are so damn many of them. Nothing makes me more paranoid than when I DON’T see a cop while I’m driving in Hoover, because that just means I haven’t spotted them yet. They’re never just not there.

Unless you live in the “appropriate” i.e. majority white parts of Hoover, (looking at you Greystone) then they only pop up when someone who is scary and brown or not driving the right car happens to be in the neighborhood.
