Counterpoint: Tulsi Gabbard is bad. She is in fact often Assad’s “bitch” to use her words.

She also has links to fascist Hindu parties in India

I responded to her on Twitter the other day to call her that very thing: الكلبة الأسد

Also also, she’s only a “liberal” because her racist ass had an “awakening” while serving in the US military. See, it’s bad to be homophobic because the brown people are homophobic, according to Tulsi Gabbard. She’s trash.

I must admit, I knew nothing about Rep. Tulsi Gabbard from Hawaii before about three hours ago.

I’ve known who she is for some time, because she’s a piece of shit Assadist who shares Steve Bannon’s beliefs on refugees (which is why he introduced her to Trump shortly after his inauguration) and voted with the GOP to keep my family out of the United States. She doesn’t give a shit about Jamal Khashoggi or any other Arab not named Bashar al-Assad, whom she supports because he murders Syrian families—or, as she calls them, terrorists. She wants MORE American bombs to fall in Syria, and has praised Putin’s military campaign that has killed thousands of innocent Syrian men, women, and children.

She’s a bigot. She doesn’t care about you, and she sure as fuck hates me.

I’ve told a few on Twitter, actually. Speaking of which, here are a couple of good Hawaiians to follow there, if you like:

I say this emphatically, without any reservation of any kind: Fuck Tulsi Gabbard. She can go straight to hell with her faux-ethical qualms, she is a hypocrite of the highest order.

I know you didn’t write the tweet but since you reposted it and believe it to be true, do you have a specific example of praise she lauded upon Assad? Or does even speaking with him constitute praise. Or that she wanted proof from independent sources before blaming Assad for the chemical attacks?

The tweet is good, but you might want to reconsider where Gabbard falls on your “list of heroes.” I know you already said you didn’t know much about her until recently but: (advance apologies for the long quote, here’s the full article: https://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2017/11/06/what-does-tulsi-gabbard-believe)

In her first political incarnation, Gabbard balanced liberal environmentalism with a pronounced conservative streak. In 2003, she voted against a bill to oblige hospitals to “provide emergency contraception immediately” to survivors of sexual assault, because it did not contain a “conscience clause,” to allow providers with a religious objection to opt out. She supported government surveillance efforts, warning that the “demand for unfettered civil liberties” could make the nation vulnerable to terrorists. And she joined her father’s battle against what she called “homosexual extremists.” In 1998, Mike Gabbard had successfully pushed for an amendment to the Hawaii State Constitution, to permit the legislature to ban same-sex marriage, which it did. Six years later, Tulsi Gabbard led a protest against a bill that would have legalized civil unions for same-sex couples. That same year, in the Hawaii State House, she delivered a long, fierce speech against a proposed resolutionmeant to target anti-gay bullying in public schools. She objected to the idea of students being taught that homosexuality is “normal and natural,” and worried that passing the resolution would have the effect of “inviting homosexual-advocacy organizations into our schools to promote their agenda to our vulnerable youth.”

So many people have comprehensively pointed out that Gabbard is hardly a heroine, I needn’t say more about that. Instead, let me point to a lesser issue that is worth keeping an eye on. Elsewhere she talks about the Aloha Spirit and how she’s all peace, harmony, and yoga; and yet as soon as the opportunity comes along to stick it to Trump, she suddenly loses all that namaste energy and goes for a misogynistic taunt.

Now, I have no problem with people insulting Trump, because Lord knows he deserves it (in fact I’m not even sure the human mind is capable of devising words equal to what Trump merits). Nor do I have a problem with people trying to embody peace and harmony; I respect those who can, as I cannot. But show me a person who claims to be all peace and harmony only until it’s more expedient to go in the other direction, and I will show you a colossal bullshitter whose principles are dubious at best and nonexistent at worst.

Myself, I prefer people who acknowledge they can be assholes, but they try to be fair about their assholery. That’s at least potentially honest.

No, in fact I have a problem with people who pretend that they are one thing, where that “one thing” is something high-minded like a “good Christian” or a believer in the “Aloha Spirit”.

Really, the fact that they have to tell you about their high-minded principles, and you can’t see those principles in their actions, is sort of a huge giveaway.
