Growing up I was a fan of the Canadian tv spinoff, The Odyssey, about a kid trapped in a coma. Took place during Wishbone Odyssey too so I assume there are deep lore ties there about coma patients turning into dogs.

Damn, I enjoyed the Odyssey on YTV as a kid, and I knew Ryan Reynolds did some acting as a kid and is obviously Canadian, but had no idea he was on this show.

I had been trying to figure out what that show “about a kid trapped in a coma” was and if it was even real! I remembered parts of it, but never enough to find anything, until recently.

    Umm. Homer’s Odyssey (750 B.C.)

I’m sure it’s canon in the games

It’s too bad that Iliad thing never caught on as a series. Homer will just have to die in ignominy now with only half of his dream realized.

      ;)

I noticed this right when the game was first revealed earlier in the year, glad this article comes along to fully cash in on the joke.

I think it’s a sign that games should stop using this word in the title.

Someday he’ll make it back to his wife and children. Will they even recognize him after all that time? Who knows!

“, to this day, 76 percent of gamers have not realized that the Oddworldseries spells “Odyssey” incorrectly”

    I hate my life now.

It’s hard to convey just how disappointed I am not to see my own favorite entry in the series, the French-produced Twinsen’s Odyssey, absent from this article, where John inhabits the body of a local-boy-done-well on the alien planet of Twinsun who has to overcome a conspiracy endangering his world.

I’ve been a longtime fan of the Odyssey games, good to see someone finally giving them their due.

P.S. You forgot the Odyssey consoles, which were the inspiration for the game series:

The Odyssey series is one long story. They should name an epic poem after it or something.

Glad someone pointed out that Assassin’s Creed Odyssey actually belongs the Odyssey series; I had a much harder time finding a coherent story when I thought it was part of the Assassin’s Creed series.
