If you’re a concealed carry license holder in Florida, it’s illegal to draw your weapon and show it to someone. It’s called brandishing. They can and should charge him with that.

Brandishing, in fact, is a crime in almost every state, and a felony in most.

That’s why he acted surprised on the video, so he could try and avoid anyone thinking he was consciously brandishing

This reminds me of the recent shooting of Markeis McGlockton. White guy with a gun, goes and initiates a confrontation, and then shoots an unarmed black person out of “fear for his life.” If these college kids hadn’t been smart enough to keep cool heads and gave this coward the opportunity he was looking for, I’m sure he would have been protected under the bogus Florida Stand Your Ground law too. We need to overturn these garbage-ass laws that the NRA basically paid for through lobby money.

You forgot a key part of that, the guy shot him IN THE BACK AS HE WAS WALKING AWAY.

No, he was NOT shot in the back. He was shot straight on in the chest. As he was backing away. As in, I’ve pushed you, you’re down, I’m done with you. And white guy took out his gun and shot, because, you know, the dude was black.

My thing is, if he felt “threatened”, why not just let them go up in the elevator and then take the next one. Why was he bothering these kids? I mean. really?!

Cause he wanted to show them his power. Remember FLA is a Stand your Ground state. Had he shot and killed one of those kids he’d be a hero regardless of the reason to a large percentage of white people in this country... most of whom are wearing MAGA hats or Blue Lives Matter shirts.

Look, after that initial argument, my ass would have been scared to share an elevator with the people I just accosted, too. lol  It’s like that thing when you see two drivers flipping each other off and cutting each other off...and then they find out they are going to the same place. lol

I had this kid rear end me one time. So I pull over and indicate he should do the same. Kid waves like he’s going and then peels off... right into the middle lane of a red light stop about 50 feet away. So I calmly pull in behind him and take pic of his license plate. Luckily for him, we had the same insurance so they took care of it without involving the police.

It’s early and my brain isn’t working. So this Crandall guy was the Manager of that building or is he a Manager of another building owned by the same company? Did this fool take it upon himself to be bouncer for a building he neither lives or works at?

Pulling a gun and then acting shocked and surprised there’s a gun in your hand is a new one though.

He was the manager for an entirely different company. It’s like telling folks they can’t come into Wendys and your the manager of Poppa Johns by pretending to be the manager at Wendys.

“Pulling a gun and then acting shocked and surprised there’s a gun in your hand is a new one though.”

The Barney Fife is strong in some folks; he must of surprised himself with his draw speed....big scary black guys cause the adrenaline to kick in.

Oh my fucking god. He was not even a resident of the apartments himself?!?!?!? If that isn’t white privilege placed on a platter and served for the world to see. I’m borderline speechless. How sad that those children had to basically revert to hostage negotiator style training to not “provoke” that guy so he wouldn’t have an “excuse” to shoot them. I’m thankful they weren’t hurt. I’m thankful that that man was fired from his job. I am hopeful that he will be prosecuted for his actions, somehow. God what the fuck.

I agree, and am thankful for everything you wrote, but if that was my child on that video, I would be beating his ASS for not simply walking away. The younger white kid was likely making matters worse, and he would not have been the one shot. One of the black students wouldhave, especially in FL and the SYG laws.

Black youth need to learn that when whitey brandishes a gun, get gone! Do not fuck around, trying to reason with him. I would have let him go on up, and called the police in the meantime and then have them come arrest the fucker. Period.

I’m super pissed about the black students not retreating. A fucking party or even disrespect from some BS white dude is not worth your life. That fucker will likely work for you one day. It is not worth it, kids.

I (as a white person that grew up in Florida) would also run from any other person with a gun and I would definitely tell my daughter to do the same. I’m all about getting the fuck out of situations like that by any means. I do agree with you that though Chad/white kid was probably trying to help, he wouldn’t have been the one shot and that’s not something he was probably thinking about at the time, just trying to get them upstairs or whatever. It still annoys me that now hundreds of people (if not more) are sitting here analyzing this situation every way to Sunday when its just that the white guy was wrong. All that happened was that man made a bad, wrong, dangerous, racist choice to act towards those kids this way.

FIRED? Why wasn’t he arrested and ALL his guns taken away? Clearly this man is a risk to others.

I would’ve called the police and said “OMG! There is a guy waving a gun around, please help, come quick! ...oh no, he is COMING! HELP ME JESUS, HELP ME JESUS! ...AHHHHHH!!!”

“Sir, you bring out your gun. What’s your purpose for that?” one of the students asks him

Even black kids are tired of this white bullshit that they barely give an emotional response, it’s like “dude, what the hell is wrong with you” in a nonplussed tone.

Well, and also if he spoke with the rage the incident deserved he’s running the risk of being dead afterward. It’s like has been said up and down the thread — first they incite a POC to justified rage, then they shoot to kill because they’re “in fear of their lives”.   In a “stand your ground” state, too.   #GillumForGovernor

If he was legally carrying (CCW) the police will (should) be looking into this because he was “brandishing.” In Florida it’s illegal to threaten someone with a weapon. Basically if you draw it you have to feel you are in imminent danger and then you have to shoot them to stay out of trouble.

This Stand your Ground is jacked up.

Also, the building he was in prohibits ALL weapons. Charges will be surely be following. This racist said on the video that he was going upstairs to get laid. He’s only been married a year. I’m guessing his wife Linda is roasting his nuts about now. He should be grateful his name is Crandall and not Bobbitt. Just sayin’.

I’m no expert nor a mind reader, but I’m willing to bet if old Pistol Pete didn’t have his gun, he would have just left them alone and tipped upstairs to bang whichever student he’s having the affair with. Then again, I might be wrong. If they don’t have a gun, they pull the phone out and call the cops. Then the cops become the gun. Just because some kids were hanging out minding their own business.

That does seem to be a common thread throughout these stories. Black people minding their own business then some white person tries to instigate something and when they do, they pull the gun or phone the cops.
