To paraphrase old Kanye: black Americans don’t care about black LGBTQ people. It shows in the lack of desire to address or even sympathize with the issues they face all the time.

The black vote in CA is what put Prop 8 over the top.

I feel you, and I have felt the fire glare from black aunties judging the “lifestyle.” However, singling out black Americans as the sole perpetrators of homo/trans phobia is a long standing fallacy. We are not a monolith, and there is nothing inherent in our blackness that causes queer panic. Educating, and holding fellow black folx accountable for their homophobia is super important, but lets not pretend people of all colors and stripes aren’t out here ignoring the needs of the QTPOC community.

Let’s be honest, the black community only gives a damn about CisHet black men. Black women and black LGBT don’t matter.

Preach. Black Lives Matter — but black straight male lives matter most.

Always revelation when you hear a writer’s speaking voice when you imagine what it sounds like based on pictures and the writing itself.

That seems really low... Like, unbelievably low. It’s got to be more than that.
