Just wait until every company is required to have a patriotic executive officer on its operations board/equal partner to stand over your shoulder and judge how much you love the Drumpfster pFire. pResident Evil approved, of course.

Remember, today’s hyperbole is tomorrow’s headlines.

I am assuming “Vice President for Patriotic Activities” is an honorary position given to the student who blew the most of their own fingers off with fireworks on the 4th of July.

“In their new ad campaign, we believe Nike executives are promoting an attitude of division and disrespect toward America,” said College of the Ozarks President Jerry C. Davis.

The president of the fucking college can’t even get the point of the protest correct. Which says a lot about College of the Fucking Ozarks.

To be fair, a lot of people don’t actually understand the protest, and don’t want to. However, for a college, which is supposed to be about learning, to not just not understand, but to go out of their way to demonstrate that they’re unwilling to learn.. ehh. I’m tired of people who aren’t willing to understand.

“If Nike is ashamed of America, we are ashamed of them.(...)“.

Not really sure how you came to that conclusion. What, logic not your strong suit? I could try to explain it, but the commenters here already understand, and you’re not likely to be reading this site or the comments, so wasted energy.

The depths of hypocrisy that people sink to in expressing their outrage over anyone, not just Kaepernick, kneeling in righteous and peaceful protest will never cease to amaze me. To be mad to the point of foolishness over someone exercising a Constitutional right to peaceful protest is an act that is unpatriotic by its very definition. It's like these folks don't own mirrors. And as every servicemember and veteran knows, we took an oath to defend the Constitution from all enemies, foreign and domestic. We show respect to the flag, but defend that document that grants the right to peaceful protest. Hell, the Supreme Court even ruled back in the 50s that students couldn't be forced to stand for or made to recite the pledge of allegiance.

No need to thank me for what I volunteered for. It was an experience that I wish had lasted longer, but life has other plans for us, I suppose.

Indoctrination. Ya know, what the right accuses most colleges and universities of doing, they are actually doing it.

I mean, it might be a little bit true. I’m certainly extremely ashamed of America.

I’m certainly very unhappy with a lot of my fellow citizens. ...Yeah, I guess now that I think about it, if I had a friend from abroad I would likely beapologising to them. Still, my beef, ultimately, is with individual people, not the country itself. It’s, admittedly a fine distinction at best, and I would not be the least bit offended by someone who disagrees.

I don’t think I’ve felt my jaw drop reading an article before. The school sounds like something The Onion cooked up - and I don’t mean they just made it up for an article but actually established a campus and found out people wanted to go to it.

...Having gotten over that initial shock, the ‘no tuition’ part doesn’t sound too bad? But that’s probably separate from room and board, themselves likely not that bad in the Ozarks.

It’s Branson Mo. AKA hillbilly, white trash Vegas, clinging to the hills of the Ozarks like a tick on a dog. Sadly, the extreme lack of open spaces and the prevalence of rich hillbillies wanting lakefront property means that property values there are probably much higher than normal for what would other wise be a festering shithole of a backwater.

So, they either missed the point completely, or are just being willfully obtuse.

I always assumed that people who claim kneeling for the anthem is disrespectful hear why the players are kneeling, but do some mental gymnastics that (in their minds) makes the players’ reasons for kneeling and therefore the action itself disrespectful. Something along the lines of, “Police violence against innocent people doesn’t happen, so kneeling during the anthem to protest police violence is slandering our fine police officers, and slandering our fine police officers during the anthem is an additional insult to our troops,”.

But perhaps I am giving them too much credit for having 1) a mind open enough to even be aware of the players’ message, and 2) enough brain cells to participate in mental gymnastics.

It’s really that they actually believe that caring about black people being murdered by police is a divisive issue. These are terrible, evil, willfully ignorant, hateful extremists. White Christian supremacy is their only end.
