    Firstly, fuck the police.

So, either the killer knew the victim and this was some sort of retaliation (which is murder) or the killer was a psychotic imbecile who couldn’t tell the difference between her door and a stranger’s (which is also murder).

I don’t believe this random stranger shit for a moment, considering that the victim would have had to have an identical front door and door mat and the neighbors claimed to have heard her banging on the door and screaming for someone to open it (which wouldn’t make any sense if the murderer lived alone).

We’ll see what the actual facts are, but something smells real fishy here.

Dollars to donuts she was drunk as hell, but the responding officers let her sober up before giving her a blood test.

Being drunk may not be much of an excuse, but it’s better than none.

A more perfect victim of police brutality could not possibly be found. There isn’t a single picture of this poor man with so much as a candy cigarette in his hand. College, job, church. Fuck. Just give his family the whole city treasury now.

That shows the lie that white supremacists love to tell that if you work hard get college educated you too can live the American dream! Well tell this brother that, oh he’s murdered, along with Philandro Castill and countless others!

She staged a home invasion and killed the legal resident, that means she should be prosecuted for murder one and should have been charged and remanded by now. Anyone else would have been. Bullshit like claiming she mistook which house she was in ought to be left to the jury to deal with.

Probably drunk or on meds. Murder 2 most likely (if they prosecute)

We all know how this is gonna end, the system will find ways to protect one of its own; yea, white skin carries a high level of immunity.

Frankly though, i’m not very excited that Attorney Ben Crump and the Sharpton team are involved. More often than not they get ‘settlements’ but not justice. My opinion.

I don’t know that the settlements directly are a result of Crump and/or Sharpton’s involvement. If local prosecutors ain’t trying to press charges, civil remedies is what you’re left with in these cases. And, let’s face it...the families involved probably know the deal. Cops rarely get charged, when charged they rarely get convictions.

That this bish wasn’t in cuffs within the hour and in front of a judge the very next morning speaks of the unbelievable corruption that runs through the courts, the prosecutors office and the police. Fuck it, that the media isn't freaking out about the police excusing a murder means they get shade as well.

Im not surprised but g-damn it is plain to see.

Off duty or not this shows the problem with the police’s excessive use of force, brutality and racism. Even if this had been her unit, what of it? Aren’t you supposed to shoot to kill only when faced with imminent danger of being killed or to protect others from that?

Since when does assuming a stranger broke into your home while you weren’t there mean you have reason to fear for your life? She was apparently outside banging on the door to be let in which is a stupid thing to do if you think it’s an armed robber and a waste of time if you figure it’s a mentally disturbed individual. In any case, since Jean was neither of those things why is he dead? Because cops are trained to be mindless  killers who are seldom held accountable for their crimes so she shot first and asked questions after.

Thank you. I’ve lived in apartment or condo buildings most of my life. I’ve been accidentally at the wrong door a few times, wondered why my key wasn’t working, looked up and was embarrassed. One time, the door opened: I immediately realized it wasn’t my apartment and quickly left relieved I didn’t encounter the resident. So I can believe she could have really made a mistake. I can also understand her being startled when Jean opened the door likely concerned about someone rattling his door. The point where the whole thing becomes unacceptable is when she immediately pulled out her deadly weapon and killed him. No questions asked? Just shoot first? Granted, the point someone opens the door, I would think the “OMG, I’m at the wrong door! I’m so embarrassed!” realization should kick in. But even if it didn’t, even if she STILL truly believed it was her apartment, that is no justification for immediately shooting someone. Yes, even if she was not expecting to encounter a person. There are tons of reasons someone might encounter an unexpected person in their home particularly in an all rental building: the downstairs neighbor called maintenance about water coming from the ceiling, the rental office gave the wrong key to someone, a friend with a key planned a surprise party (We did this all the time in college.) and yes, even if it was a compromised person who somehow wandered in or someone trying to commit a burglary, it still isn’t justification to execute them if they are unarmed ... especially if you are a supposedly a trained police officer. Giving her full benefit of the doubt that everything she claims is true, she killed someone because she was STARTLED! That’s unacceptable!

    Extraordinary and horrific.

I’ve never gone to the wrong apt but my upstairs neighbor (these were pretty identical layouts too) tried my lock, realised mistake, and texted me (we’re both female) to let me know I wasn’t being home invaded. Girl drank like a fish, and smoked a lot of weed. Nobody died or even got yelled at.

Neither of us were armed, taught to view civilians as enemy combatants, or saw people of other ethnicities as a direct threat.

It’s the gun, and the police training that got us all/her into this situation, high or not. (And I think she was also on something.) Officers do not need to be armed at all times.
