Look: cancer fucking sucks. My mom is currently undergoing treatment for stage 3 lung cancer, and I am doing everything I can to help support her as she fights back against this shitty disease. That said: I am sick and tired of this bullshit lionizing of John McCain simply because he has cancer. McCain may pay lip service against Trump, but he actively voted and supported many of his policies. He aligned with Trump 83% of the time when it came to voting on his policies. 83%!!!!

I wish him and his family comfort and peace, but please let’s stop pretending as if McCain didn’t also directly help cause pain and suffering, and helped elect Trump.

Let us also not forget that he inoculated this country against the concept of drumpf via sarah palin.

That said, I wish he and his family peace in his final days.

By those voting standards that still makes him the fifth most rebellious GOP Senator... Fuck me...

So, he’s not resigning his senate seat? What’s going to happen there?

Depends on whether he’s capable of traveling. If he can, he can still vote. If he can’t, then the GOP loses a crucial vote in the Senate. After he passes, he’ll replaced by the Republican governor’s choice until 2020.

Republicans probably caught a break because it came too late to add a new election to the ballot for 2018. If he holds out for a year or so, it’s good news for democrats, but it sounds like he’s deteriorating quickly.

The Governor (R) will appoint a replacement to serve out the remainder of the term through 2020.

Prolonged terminal diseases are one of the worst ways to go. But at least he’s got the kind of health care coverage he fought tooth and nail to deny to others. So there’s that.

I’m somewhat conflicted about McCain. Previously, he was somewhat maverick-y and tried to compromise (e.g. McCain Feingold).

In more recent years, he’s largely become a party line Republican and brought us Sarah Palin (i.e. Trump Beta). He’s what I would call a “principled conservative” that eventually succumbed to the Trump Republican Party.

Regardless, I wish him a peaceful end of life and hope he takes the time reckon with what he’s done for (to) the Country.

He talks a good game, but his actions speak a different story when it comes to being a maverick of any sort.

That said, I hope his death isn’t drawn out and/or painful.

Spoke out against Trump. Voted with identical Trump/GOP policy 90% of the time.

Voted on Obamacare repeal. Turned right around and voted for the “tax cuts” that kick the funding leg out from under Obamacare.

Let’s not get “speaking out against” confused with speaking out the side of one’s mouth.

If McCain chooses Romney as his running mate and not Palin, we probably wouldn’t have had an Obama presidency in 2008, so thanks for the stupid move, John.

Wait, are you serious? There was no way Obama was losing that race. Palin’s VP candidacy helped lead to the terrible moment we’re in right now.

John McCain is an American hero and, for all his faults and errors, a decent man who stood for decent politics, and regrets the decision that may have hastened the Republican party’s descent into lunacy. However, look at this and tell me how a lesser man would have handled it.

It’s strange to eulogize someone who is still alive. However, McCain was also afforded the chance few get, to say his peace and make his wishes known.

I dread how the president intends to sully these dignified proceedings before and after McCain’s passing.

On a personal note, cancer is a shitty way to go, and a shitty way to watch someone go.

Yeah, and when a different woman, at a different rally, asked him, “How do we beat the bi**h?” (re: Hillary Clinton), he laughed. Also he called his own wife a c**t.
