He can’t pardon Manafort; if Trump pardons Manafort, then the special counsel, various state AGs, and possible Dem-dominated congressional committees can compel any testimony or evidence they want - related to the pardoned crimes - from Manafort without the 5th amendment protections.

Ps. Your last paragraph hit so hard it would make Mike Tyson soil his pants.

Oh you poor idealistic soul. You sound just like I did thinking that this man could never be elected. It is still a big if, as to whether or not the Dems can take back congress (and if the have the spine to actually do anything). And as time goes by I fear that these Republikkkans will do something drastic to stop Muller. Remember to them it isn’t about the law. Its about Money Power and the oppression of POC. Bitch McConnell has already f-ed over the constitution for a Supreme Court nomination. Is it really a stretch to believe they would stop Muller?

Only if those crimes are only federal crimes. He can’t be compelled to give testimony that might incriminate himself on state charges.

I didn’t watch the interview but I saw portions of it on TV this morning. I was absolutely fucking flabbergasted when he basically said that the use of pressure by prosecutors to cause defendants to “flip” on those higher up on the criminal foodchain should be outlawed.

The “if Obama had said ‘X’” test was setting off bells in my head!

You’d almost think that “tough on crime” was a dog-whistle that doesn’t apply to white-collar criminals.

Yah, turning State’s Evidence should totally be illegal. “Due process later” for some “These RICO statutes are unethical!” for others.

‘Flipping against co-conspirators should be illegal’ says the man always touting “rule of law”.  He wants to be a mobster so bad, he got a dude who used to prosecute mobsters as a lawyer.

He wants to be a mobster so bad, that for a while there, he was employing a guy named Tony “The Mooch” Scaramucci. And of course, Trump even calls himself “The Don”.  If that isn’t mobster, I don’t know what is.

Speaking of Tony “The Mooch” Scaramucci.

Anthony walked out, made a left by the chief of staff’s office, where all the assistants sat, stepped into a little cubby-like office, and started crying. One of the assistants saw and heard the whole thing. She described it as “a girly cry.”

Meanwhile, I keep seeing the headline “Pecker Receives Immunity.” I don’t know what it means, but I love it.

Splinter had the headline “Pecker Squeezed” and I about died.

Pecker’s the head of AMI, which publishes the National Enquirer, who has a LOT of info about Cohen/Trump.

In short, the president is trash and Fox News is trash so it makes sense that the two have swiped right on each others photos, gotten married and share a trailer that smells like cigarette smoke and broken dreams.

You know someone is guilty as hell when they abandon defending their innocence in favor of simply threatening the public with the idea that the ship will sink if they are removed from the helm.

I want someone to simply ask Trump or Sarah Sanders(they may have asked her and got a none answer)“did you have an affair with these women?” No one asks that...

But he also said in that interview “When I was told about the payments my FIRST question was: Did this come from campaign funds?”

    yea right...
