You know what tho? I get her non apology, cause stealing is a THING for middle class/rich white girls. It’s really wild actually. But it is. It’s a coming of age thing for them and they do it all the time like it’s nothing. They go to CVS or wherever and just steal shit cause they can, and because they are white and women they don’t get in trouble. It’s how they learn and confirm culturally that they’ll never really be held accountable for their actions. And if they are there is always a white man to bail them out using benevolent sexism.
It’s why they work so hard on behalf of white supremacy or never really strongly challenging it.

  Yo! People often don’t believe me when I tell them that this a real, actual thing for white girls, so I direct them to the “lifting” tag/community on tumblr. It’s overrun with white girls posting their “hauls,” i.e. the literal thousands of dollars of mostly cosmetic products they have stolen. Sometimes they are even posing with the stuff, faces fully identifiable. And they talk about it as though it’s some kind of legitimate hobby. It’s wild.

  The consequences of one’s action usually determines what one’s willing to do in a given situation. She was perfectly willing to steal and not feel bad about it; until she realized there was footage (i.e. the consequent increased). If she went to the bank and saw money in the vault, she wouldn’t have taken any...because she’s already decided the consequences weren’t worth the risk. She’ll probably say she made a mistake, but she didn’t, she made an error in judgment.
