      Man so true! on all accounts.  I’m originally from Oakland (moved out east many years ago) but worked in SF for many years.     OK but here’s my question, why is a fetish a bad thing?

    In deed, would not one expect a sex diary to include many entries on fetishes?

    I am saying that it is not problematic for a society as a whole to reduce people of color to sexual attributes. And I am not saying that a sex blog shouldn’t deconstruct the roots of a fetish so that everyone is on the same page about precisely what game it is we are playing.

    However, one cannot expect every person, especially not in a reader contributed column to be aware of the underlying neurosis which happen to fuel their particular predilection. Surely every piece about a fetish doesn’t need to deconstruct it’s underpinnings. Cannot sometimes a piece not merely state “this is what I like”?

    I’m dating a woman who is 6'2", she is aware her height is a large component of the reason for my attraction to her. Must I deconstruct femdom merely to share an anecdote about why I find women significantly taller or stronger than I am to be attractive? Must I also note that she is a white woman who lives in one of the blackest neighborhoods in my city and that she seems to have a certain affinity for black related things so we may be mutually fetishizing one another?

    I frequently go to events where the whole purpose is for people to gather and fetishize one another.  If we stopped to contextualized everything going on we wouldn’t have any time to tie each other up and hit each other with things.

      The market will decide, and I suppose it’s the white men buying it. It’s incredible how black people primarily get X rated content as objects of fetishization.     Ive been reading the Cut for years. It use to be specifically NYC sex diaries. It was always and mostly about white girls who rode the penis caousel until they found a racist dolt for marriage.     I’m a regular reader of the Sex Diary, mostly because it’s nearly always a trainwreck. I side-eyed the first racial cue, because my mother will randomly and unnecessarily drop a person’s ethnicity into the story she’s telling me about them (and it irritates me and she won’t stop even when I point it out)... but it got way worse. I honestly can’t believe it’s a real Diary (they say they fact-check them) or that The Cut actually thought it was publishable.
