    i think i got the idea from Michael Bennent but we really need to stop calling these people “owners”....they are chairman/chairwoman at best.

    only in america do we call these people “owners”...i think you get what i’m getting at.

      Chairmen are appointed by the owners to run a company because there are too many owners to make quick day-to-day considerations. But the NFL limits the number of owners to three (ten if the team is owned by a tax dodging family trust). They own the team just like anyone owns any piece of property. The only team where “chairman” might work is Green Bay who was grandfathered in with their democratic ownership model. Other than that, they are owners and yes that is a revolting term, but it is truthful.
