“I certainly regret it because it’s inaccurate in terms of the totality of what we would be thinking,” Laurenzo told the news station.

“People are insulting us in such a dramatic fashion, and we feel like we don’t deserve it,” he said. “At least temporarily I had it taken down because I don’t want to be insulted, my children to be insulted, my family to be insulted.”

    Okay, Tio Tomás. Sure.

On the real, unless he was rocking some serious protest wear no one forced him to take a picture with the guy.

As a Houstonian who lives in the neighborhood, I’d like to offer some insight to the two restaurants mentioned.

El Tiempo is fairly upscale. It is part of the local restaurant “empire” built by beloved entrepreneur “Mama Ninfa” Laurenzo in the 1940s from a single taco stand. It’s good. Huge menu. About 3X Overpriced. Excellent green sauce. Mostly for white people and tourists. “Expense account Tex Mex.” Ninfa was active in Republican politics and a friend of Bush Sr. She did a lot of charitible work for the city, and a big civic booster during her life.

La Mexicana is a single-location family-run Tex Mex place that grew out of a convenience store that sold tacos and Mexican pastries in a historically gay/Bohemian part of town. Theyve had the same staff for at least 25 years. Breakfast at la Mexicana is a Montrose tradition (best menudo anywhere), and they’ve got a morning happy hour during the week which caters to shift workers (or people that took the day off and wanted cheap margaritas at 9am.) They also print their own calendars with Aztec imagery, so I can only imagine how well Sessions went over with them.

If I ran a restaurant and Secret Service showed up to ask me about security I’d tell that that security sucks and whoever it is probably shouldn’t eat here. What possible upside could there be to hosting someone from this administration? There is no way this wouldn’t have gone badly for them even without posing for pictures the racist elf.

What grosses me the most is that Jeff Session thinks that he can say all this shit about immigrants, but enjoy their cultures without any sort of irony.

One of the most favored Republican hangouts in DC is a mexican restaurant. Trust me, they don’t care.

In response to El Tiempo’s statement. Go to hell... Have the honor of serving yourself several seats.

You insulted your children and family when you chose to serve and suck up to that racist elf.

TBH I feel bad for the kitchen staff! Bet that everyone in the back knows someone who’s undocumented, or may be undocumented themselves... What a terrifying position to be in.

I’m confused. Did we already forget about Kirstjen Nielsen’s hypocrite ass? Like, at this point, we should just assume they all love Mexican food, because that would be Peak 2018.

And, lest we forget, in probably the grandest display of hypocrisy on the issue of race in the previous century was old, nasty-ass Strom Thurmond and his secret black daughter.

    This is America.

Lordy, I DID forget about Strom Thurmond’s nasty asbestos-looking ass getting exposed as a deadbeat dad....

And this worries me, Trump and his ilk are like a racist eclipse, they’re so fucking terrible it temporarily blocks your view of all the other terrible garbage orbiting your life.

I have no words except Jeff Sessions is a real dastardly motherfucker.

He put two businesses in a bad position (serve him and you get criticized, drop kick his elf ass out and you get criticized) but, hey, a bitch has to get his huevos all up in his mouth. “Mexicans are criminals but damn I sure love their foods.”

May Montezuma take out revenge on your small intestines, trick.

and special shoutout to Roland Laurenzo...dummy, what were you thinking, bruh? Damn.

...I guess I had some words, after all.

All they had to do was casually mention some crime in the neighborhood and Secret Service would have called it off. They didn’t know who the security check was for, but they knew it was one of the rats still on the sinking ship.

Because it’s okay if they can have our food as long as we, the Mexicans are hidden.

Even in the comments you see people writing latinx and such, we are not talking about the generalization of people that came from a Hispanic background, we are talking about Mexicans, why people in the comments write latinx?

Im not sure about that. The mayor and police chief have long told the administration to GTFO with their ideas about anti-immigrant policing.

“Houston Police Chief Art Acevedo called the immigration policy 'un-Godly.’

“American values? Conservative values? Progressive values? Judeo-Christian values? Family values? History and God will be unkind to those who are silent or support this oppressive, inhumane, un-Godly policy,” he tweeted. “God is watching us, we can’t hide from him. WWJD?”
