I’m not saying that he didn’t do it, or that he shouldn’t be punished/ held accountable, but that fact that the primary is tomorrow? It smells like Borscht, Beef Stroganoff, and Solyanka Soup.

I hate that I feel the same way. Like, I’m literally mad at myself for questioning this. I planned to vote for Ellison tomorrow. A lot of my friends voted early and are now mad that they can’t change their ballot.

I’ve started to research the other Attorney General candidates as I feel like I can not vote for the man. But damn, the timing of this revelation is suspicious.

So you’re admitting that it’s suspicious and are going to do what they would have you do anyway?

I need receipts and so far I don’t see any.

If everything she is saying is true I am sorry and hate to hear someone go through this. And as someone who has seen my mother go through this like her child has is heartbreaking.

Throughout the relationship he would say and do things and then gaslight me when I would ask what was going on. He would make me think I was crazy for suspecting things I had heard or had seen. Come to find out, everything that I would bring up was actually true. The more I would see and hear things, the more I would bring it up. The anger and rage were ramping up. He would say and do things to manipulate me, so I wouldn’t bring certain issue up.

Also I don’t like when people talk like this. Its like throughout explaining, she’s mentioning things but also not saying anything at all. I’m the type of person that in any situation I want to hear examples and instances of what happened specifically.

That’s actually a big red flag for me.

My abusive, narcissistic still-not-quite-ex husband talks like this about me. He says I’m the abusive one, but he can’t actually give a single example of what he’s talking about.

Meanwhile, I could talk for hours. Give thousands of examples, big and small. But nobody believes me when I talk about the stuff.

Ms. Monahan is right about one thing. It IS hard to talk about because it’s not just one specific incident or word.  It’s about the pattern and how it all ties together.  But....I still kind of want to see and understand the pattern.  And I don’t based on this statement.

Yes that was driving me nuts. I understand you don’t wan’t to always get into the grimy details, but this is written a statement why leave in all the rambling.

Right. Since Tommy Lee, Pamela Anderson, and Rodney King era have folks (well into the 2nd decade of social media ) ever been shy about posting video? Especially “leaked” ones.

It’s always difficult to defend a person one doesn’t know really, really well against charges like this, cause we don’t really know what that person is capable of. But this sounds like some RNC generated bullshit.

I’m not going to call his ex or her son liars, but it truly seems odd that they maintain that their charges are substantiated by texts and video, yet they only release texts which do no such thing.

The timing of this is suspect af too.

No idea what the real story is here, but based on the ‘evidence’ we have so far, I won’t be dragging the man.

I still genuinely don’t know what to make of these allegations. The Twitter thread you posted includes a link to the article written by Amy Alexander, who made abuse allegations against Ellison in 2006 iirc. Her allegations of emotional abuse matches these newer allegations and are easy to believe. I’m not quite sold on her physical abuse allegations.

They read like an account from someone who has left out relevant details, like someone saying ”he grabbed me and shoved me out of the way”, without mentioning that the person shoved had deliberately, aggressively prevented the shover from leaving. I know, I know... It really sounds like I’m caping up for the dude and disregarding her words - silencing her even. But that really isn’t my intent. What she wrote just doesn’t read like an account of the actions of someone guilty of physical abuse. It reads like the words of someone who had a difficult relationship with a narcissistic asshole.

Even when taken together with the allegations from this post we are commenting on, I find myself asking for evidence. Especially since his current accuser, Ms Moynihan (sp), claims to have rock sold evidence which she somehow hasn’t produced. As the Twitter thread says, the journalist to whom she provided her text messages, found no such rock sold evidence of abuse.

I’m aware of how damaging emotional abuse can be, but there is a clear line separating emotional abuse from physical abuse. The 2 things simply are not equal sins.

This is a lot longer and rambly than I’d intended... I guess all this adds up to me accepting that he may be guilty of physical abuse, but I’m just not quite to “more likely than not” yet.

    Abuse is tricky.

He may not have been abusive to his ex-wife. He might have been abusive to Ms. Monahan. Treating one person in one relationship well means nothing about how someone treats the next person they are with.  I’m big about believing women who make accusations of abuse.

But I really, really can’t fucking stand what she is describing as “narcissistic abuse.” Nah. That’s not what that is. Maybe he was a liar and a cheat. Many narcissists also do that. But she literally gives one single example in her entire statement of something that is actually abusive.

The rest of it? I’m kind of angry about, tbh.  I’m not saying I don’t believe her.  I’m saying I disagree with some of her classifications.  Like, pretty strongly.

Publish the evidence and we can all see. You can’t make claims like this close to a primary, claim to have proof and then not produce it without incurring justifiable suspicion about your motives. And suspicion is something that comes up when a skinny wanna-be white rapper is involved in what is otherwise a he said/she said since no one’s made previous allegations. Wouldn’t be surprised if he caught a deal at Cука Records.

I’ve always gotten a weird vibe from the guy. His public persona seems forced. He doesn’t come across as a talented politician despite all off of the praise he receives, and after his crying debacle when he was asked why exactly did he cry?* He said: (paraphrasing) “hey! I’ll always shed tears for America!”

I mean, c’mon. You have to laugh at that.

*I know that he was crying because of the Muslim 9/11 victim. I’m just pointing out that his response reminded me of those people who take advantage of every opportunity that comes their way, you know, Kardashians...

His Islamic history is also kind of weird. While he has been somewhat consistent in where he first encountered it, he’s incredibly vague as to what branch/minhag he identifies as despite there being fundamental differences in belief and was an outspoken member of Nation of Islam until it became politically inexpedient.

I was a child who witness my mother go through an abusive relationship. I wouldn’t wish that experience on Donald Trump.

Beating/mistreating a woman is one of the most cowardly things a man can do and if this is true, Ellison, you ain’t shit, bruh.
