First someone’s going to have to explain to me how protesting during the anthem is showing disrespect for first responders.

It’s the national anthem, not the police and firefighters anthem. (but if it were a first responses anthem, and I were a firefighter, I’d make sure to get my own anthem separate from the cops anthem)

As far as I know, most NFL players are American citizens so the anthem covers them just as much as it does cops.

No, no, military and para-military come first and the rest of us can just shut up about it.

Which is, of course, absolute bullshit. Except in a police state.

Soooo... in an attempt to “punish” the players and the team, they are refusing to buy discounted tickets... resulting in the team selling those same tickets for the actual (higher) price? That’s really hitting them where it hurts, guys

These might be the same people who broke their Keurig in protest of... something..

I have a better idea, the next time someone sues a police department for excessive force or brutality take it out of the pension fund that the police have. Serious question to all police officers across this country: ARE ANY OF YOU EVER IN THE WRONG??? I mean ever? Is any shooting not a good shooting? Why are you always so hostile and confrontational with people of color and in all honesty people in general? Why do you feel the need to bully and act in the manner that you do? It must be so exhausting to NEVER be in the wrong. For real piss off all of you

Some cops join because they truly believe they can help people.

MOST cops join because they are control freak assholes.

I’ve also met a few who regretted joining, but once in, realized they had one helluva gravy train that the civilian life could not match, so matter how much they regretted joining, they stuck it out as long as they could for the cushy retirement. Meanwhile they hurt a lot of people along the way because of their burnout.

I know I’m not saying anything revolutionary here, but the kneeling players look completely respectful here. The cops, their union, white America, and Trump act like the players are busy taking a piss on the flag or something

longstanding tradition of telling someone with less power to “do something this way if you want results,” then changing the rules and making a thousand excuses when they do. Insert comments about “fairness” or “attitude” when they point out the hypocrisy. Finish it off with “well this is why you’re not getting what you want (even though you did exactly what we told you to do, but tough cookies, life aint fair...unless you’re me)“

The Broward County PBA recently offered our members discounts to a Miami Dolphins game because that franchise said they were going to honor all First Responders...

We entered into this partnership with the understanding that the Dolphins organization would require their players to stand for the national anthem.

... request a refund because this organization obviously does not honor First Responders and the dangers they put themselves in every day.

Hmm. Last time our football team had a game dedicated to something - let’s say, oh, the local food bank - I’m pretty sure no one was standing for the national anthem out of respect for the food bank.

The PBA needs a reality check. Stopping being a racist bunch of pricks wouldn’t hurt, either.

I went to a high school graduation earlier this summer and they struck up the national anthem and we all stood up and sang along. I leaned over to another non-parent invitee and asked, “Why are we doing this?” She replied, “I don’t know, maybe because it’s 105 degrees on this field and they want to push the ceremony over the three-hour mark?”

    A hit dog will holler.

The lady doth protest too much, methinks.

The wicked flees when no man pursues.

He who smelt it, dealt it.

“We entered into this partnership with the understanding that the Dolphins organization would require their players to stand for the national anthem. This did not happen at last night’s preseason game against Tampa Bay.”

Maybe the dolphins should release a statement saying “we entered this partnership with the understanding the police would stop assaulting people since our first responders continue their role in turning paramedics and ambulance drivers into second responders, we are rescinding our discounts.”

Or they could announce “we were going to offer free tickets to any person of color who, in the last year, has been harassed, assaulted, was the victim of excessive force (as determined by a panel of ethical non-morons, not by DAs or police commissions), or otherwise belittled, intimidated,or otherwise targeted y the police, but our stadium only olds like 60000 people, so we had to try something else. “
