    Apparently there’s a hidden Hollywood rule that any black actress under 40 who gets a role has to pass the brown bag test and racial diversity mostly means white guys get their choice of light-skinned or multiracial black women as love interests.

    I just want to say how much I appreciate this. Film Fatale and the homie Clarkisha Kent have been talking about this a lot, ( Hollywood perpetuation of Colorism) Which has been met with, LALLALALA I can’t hear you. You dark bitches are bitter and jealous. Colorism doesn’t exsist. #AllBlacksMatter or some variation of, from light skin and mixed women and black men. So the fact that you as a Black Man recognizes this and is validating it....  It just really make me emotional. Thank you Jason. Thank you.

      I’m also tired of the Hollywood trope where only White men will date dark skinned Black women (The Walking Dead, How To Get Away With Murder, etc.). Anytime you see a dark skinned Black man, he’s either with a light skinned or White woman. It’s ridiculous.

      Yes. The film is structured so that they give enough recap information about the first movie that newcomers won’t be left behind, and really this is a stand-alone story with no major intersections with the other films aside from being set in the MCU.

    Maybe since Falcon is the guy who literally said the government will go Mark Furhman on his black ass, he knew he had a better chance as a fugitive than getting a fair deal from the justice system.

    This is ABSOLUTELY the wrong take of this line. You link to the actual scene and yet you STILL completely miss the point!

    Sam is talking to Tony Stark about needing to get a bad cop to come at him instead of the good cop routine Tony is trying to pull to find out where Cap went. Why? Because there’s no way he will give up his friend without a fight.

    This bad take undercuts your point somewhat. Next time pay attention a little more and not read into things that do not exist.

      according to the one drop rule they are black, there are some that just have the complexion and features that are easier for wypipo to stomach when it comes to the romantic interests of white dudes in films and such.

    Thank you. Every media platform is pushing Black Man with White Woman (every so often substituted by Light Skin). Big Corporate financed Media, Alternative Media, Independent: films, adverts, television, magazines (hard copy or internet). No matter who is at the helm, the same thing is pushed.

    It is even more prevalent than the media depictions of white parents to children of color.

    Well it’s not as if countries haven’t engaged in lightening of races, community divisions, colonizer identification/alliance throughout history with the use of propaganda, rape, encouragement of marriage (Japan’s absorbing the indigenous population for example)

    When there is such a virulent push I have to wonder why. Clearly it says Dark Skinned Women are not appropriate for procreating.

    The amazing thing about that line from Civil War is that it went over so many people’s heads. Back to The MCU it is amazing that they can get all these films right for the most part and have yet to make a Fantastic Four film that isn’t complete shit. I liked Ant Man and I am looking forward to this film but I am afraid that the larger message has been missed, a white felon is worth saving and rehabilitating where as a black or Hispanic one isn’t.

      Except, the line is “Well you’d better go get a bad cop, cause you’ll have to go Mark Furhman on my ass to get information out of me,” said to Tony Stark towards the end of Civil War when Stark realizes he’s wrong and is trying to find Captain America.

      It’s unfortunate that a mistaken or deliberate misreading of that line is being used to make a false argument that Falcon “knew” that he’d be treated worse in the system. Why couldn’t Falcon have just gone with Captain America because he’s a loyal friend and ally, rather than because of some imagined-only-by-this-writer fear of criminal prosecution?
