Has there ever been a “good” boyscout story? Ever? I mean they are run by wealthy white men to teach boys how to boy and hate girls/women and start a fire. Shoot, they don’t even bring thin mints to my door - like, how smart are you fools?

My mother has a friend whose son LOVED the Boy Scouts. I think he was an Eagle Scout. He might be a Scout leader as an adult, I’m not sure. He was kind of a shy, nerdy kid and had a hard time making friends in school but once he discovered scouting, that was his element. I don’t know the racial makeup of his troops though (he’s biracial - Black mom, white dad).

No, there hasn’t.  I think they’ll look back on this and be glad their child didn’t absorb any of these “American Values” they’re so proud of.

“bullied a black Georgia Boy Scout, throwing rocks and calling him the ‘N-word’ during a week-long camping trip at Camp Woodruff in Blairsville, Ga. “

Where I come from, once people start throwing rocks you’ve sort of passed beyond bullying into “stoning.” Then again, I’m not from Alabama (thank god.)

Yeah. It feels like throwing rocks is pretty much assault. But what do I know? I’m a libtard snowflake who thinks kids should have safe spaces.

Had they been immigrant kids throwing those stones at ICE thugs, then every stone would have been counted as an assault against each and everyone of the ICE thugs....

Actually he would see worse. If I was the father of this child he would get his beat into the ground. For real I am tired of white men telling me about their pain while ignoring mine

See, if they would tell me an adult Black Mother and Grandmother, about their pain we could talk. However, allowing my child or grandchild to be assaulted verbally and physically; well ... I would rob Rob of his ability to ambulate.

Excuse me, but when did the MAGA hat become an approved part of the Boy Scout uniform? Let me look this up.....

Seems that the entire troop has to agree upon the headgear, if any is to be worn. So if there are black kids in the troop, they’d have to wear MAGA hats too? And it’s OK to wear hats with political affiliations?

    Sheeeeeiiit.

I was raised in Alabama, not too far from Vestavia Hills. Filled with mostly upper middle class-wealthy White folks. Doesn’t surprise me whatsoever.

    Vestavia Hills. No surprise there.

Check out this list of “possible” Sundown Towns in Alabama (but yes they really are):

    Arab
    Chickasaw
    Cullman
    Cullman County
    Dixie
    Fyffe
    Good Hope
    Hanceville
    Hokes Bluff
    Nauvoo
    new
    Oneonta
    Orange Beach
    Sand Mountain
    Vestavia Hills
    West Point
    Winston County

*Not a suspected sundown town but of interest for other reasons.

Mountain Brook, Inverness, Creola, Clanton and Chilton County are not on there, but they should be. Anyvbody who has been to Cullman County can tell you stories about that place. I had to leave Cullman once just for stopping for gas-and I’ll never go back again.

And Creola? I stopped there at a convenience store once going to Mobile, and a bunch of “good ol’ boys” were standing outside, and stopped talking and stared at me when i walked past. One of them followed me all through the store. I didn’t dare use the bathroom, but I bought a bottle of water and left. That joker followed me all the way back outside. I just waved goodbye at them, then watched my rear-view mirror just to be sure they weren’t following me.+

Want to know if there’s a Sundown Town in you state? Check out link, http://sundown.tougaloo.edu/content.php?file=sundowntowns-whitemap.html , then click on your state.  You may be surprised at what you’ll find.

My mom tried to ask my brother and me if we wanted to join Boy Scouts when I was around 9. I remember a kid in my class was in it. When my mom asked me if I wanted to join I told her, “I don’t like to be in school with Greg, so I don’t want to be in his club.”

I do suck at tying knots tho.
