    I had an old boss who was like this.

    He wouldn’t let ANYONE use the restroom. Pregnant women, elderly people, handicapped -- it didn’t matter.

    We had a lady in tears begging us to use the restroom and he wouldn’t budge and eventually she wet her pants.

    I say anyone, but I mean almost anyone.

    If a particularly attractive woman came and asked he’d magically be willing to make an exception.

    He was a complete creep.

      Before anyone asks or suggests, I don’t think he had a hidden camera in the restroom or anything like that. He was a creep, no doubt, but not that particular strain of creep.

      But he’d always magically bend the rules for attractive women -- give them discounts, let them use the bathroom, allow them to use the store phone (also a big no-no for him), etc.

    I’m a tad smidgen over the 35 hump. and I can barely squat on the pot without letting out an achy groan. Especially on cold early mornings. I can’t even imagine what it would feel like to have to bend down to piss outside. Without the support of ant kind of seating...uggh!

    Immediately after reading, I thought to myself some mayonnaise eatin’ ass, cracker ass crackers are probably going to want Granny charged with public nudity or lewdness, or some other BS charges.

    I’ve worked as a tech in retail most of my life. Large chains like Walgreens and CVS. Even back in the day before most locations had public restrooms, I can’t imagine any of my supervisors turning someone away. Customer, or not. Most folks hate using public restooms to begin with. So if they’re anything like me, if a customer is asking to use a barely clean facility, they must be pretty desperate, and reeeeaallly gotta go. So the options are either 1) let them use the can. or, 2) risk repeatedly telling them “no”, with the chance that they piss or shit all over the place amd your left to clean it up. I’d rather take option #1.

    Wait, I don’t understand. Was this a gas station with no PUBLIC bathroom, only an employee one? I’m sorry, I don’t get it. I’ve never heard of a gas station without a public bathroom. I don’t think I’ve ever, ever seen one in Canada (stores, sure, but not gas stations). Is this common in the U.S.?

      Yes, for some reason it’s common for convenience stores, drug stores, and gas stations to have employee-only bathrooms -because they don’t want to have to clean up after the public, I think? 

      I think some of the chains that have grown in recent years (like Wawa and Sheetz) got popular partly because they were the rare stations who put an emphasis on clean, comfortable, large bathrooms. Because I have traveled with friends who were disabled, elderly, pregnant, and/or had small children, I know how awful it is when you can’t easily find a nice restroom. So I go out of my way to patronize gas stations in my area that offer public bathrooms, and avoid the stations that don’t.

      Where do you live? I’ve lived in Texas, North Carolina, New Mexico, and traveled many other states on road trips, and I don’t think I’ve ever been in a gas station that didn’t have bathrooms. Some older stations had really gross bathrooms, some outside where you had to get a key from inside and go around the side to the bathroom, etc., but I don’t think it’s “common” at all to not have public restrooms at gas stations or convenience stores, drug stores, at least not in the south.

    There’s a part in 11.23.66 after the main character basically blisses out over how good everything back then was (food, air, manners, cars, money, etc.) until he gets to one of the Carolinas and notices that blacks only bathroom was basically just a hole cut in a board over a ravine.

    I have been turned away from restrooms even after explaining my disability which may not be visible to YOU but is not gonna end well id I don’t get access to a restroom: male, female, call it what you want but imma need a key ASAP.

    What this poor woman went through is an humiliating atrocity. JFC she didn’t ask for a free 12 pack of Bud Light, she needed a damn bathroom! Why is it so hard lately to behave like a human being?!?

    Frankly I hope she sues and gets ALLLL the money!

      I have asked to use a bathroom in a gas station. Once they said no i decided instead of pouting around like a bitch then peeing on the ground i could go find another store. If i had to go real bad i imagine i would have peed outside and not cried about that either. I willingly pee outside at times. Let’s act like we don’t have to cater to every single individuals needs
