  Lapsed catholic here and... I don’t think that’s how it goes. Maybe they changed it since I made up shit for confession in order to have something to confess to, despite being such a damn good kid. Our old priest was cool, you could tell that he was rolling his eyes internally the whole time what with all these tiny, trembling children too young to even sin in a consequential way. Later in life, after his retirement, he did oecomenic services at his home, inviting everyone - Catholic, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, just something about God is Love.
