    Two of the oldest black members of Congress, Maxine Waters and John Lewis are out there, practically by themselves (I see Kamala Harris and Barbara Lee, too), taking on these racist ass Trump people. Where the rest of the Dems in Congress, especially the Congressional Black Caucus?  They should be out there, having their backs, calling out this racist ass dictatorship that’s taken over the White House.  Shame on Democratic Congress for being so complacent and scared to lose your positions.

    Since Manitos has a history of deleting my posts, I’ll post here. WTF does representative John Lewis have to do with the electoral college or the democratic presidential primary? You do understand that representative elections are not the same as presidential elections right?

    It has been 42 years since Alabama sent a single electoral college vote to democrats (Jimmy Carter in 1976). In 2016, Alabama voted almost 2 to 1 for Trump (which btw didn’t prevent John Lewis from being re-elected). So again, why should the democratic presidential primary give a shit what Alabama has to say when they absolutely will not send any electoral college votes?

    Alabama, Georgia, Texas, Tennessee, and Arkansas all vote before Wisconsin, Michigan, Florida, Ohio, Colorado, New Mexico and Pennsylvania. That means by the time the people in states who could theoretically get to decide the election get a say in who to vote for, the primary has essentially already been decided thanks to states who will send 0 electoral college votes during the election.

    The timing of primary elections is great for republicans and could not be worse for democrats. They get the candidates that excite their base. We get the candidates that Texas ‘democrats’ are willing to vote for.

    P.S. I live in Texas and vote in the primaries, but I’m willing to have my vote counted less if it means we stop electing shitty democratic candidates picked by deep red states.

      The Democrats saying that southern black voters count less than others would be a very fitting thing. I mean white democrats already shit on their black base, let’s just go all the way.

      I can't wait for Democrats to roll out this policy and then complain about the black voter turnout as if that's our failure and not theirs/yours.

      They already do that. People are just ignorant or deliberately ignoring it. I’ve highlighted the top 5 states by black population percent by % (plus Texas which has the highest black population by absolute number). Wanna know how many democratic events targeted those states during the entire 2016 general election? Zero. Not a single one. Over 10 million black voters in those states and democrats didn’t waste one solitary minute trying to rally the votes there.

      The DNC takes minority votes for granted. They’re not going to spend time chasing them, but when turnout is low, they turn around and blame minorities for not being excited enough about the candidate that spent a year actively avoiding them. I’d rather they were just honest about it.

    We are going to need every last John Lewis and Maxine Waters this November. We are going to need every Luke Skywalker and Han Solo. The differences must be put aside, the faults must be downplayed. And we must not just beat them narrowly, but send a message so loud this fall that we silence the hate.

    The Resistence is strong with this one. Be ready, trolls. You better be out there doing more than posting racist, bigoted shit online; you better be signing up voters and canvassing like we are. ‘Cause we’re coming for your asses this November. Trust and believe.

    The fact that John Lewis and Maxine Waters have more courage and conviction than any other member of the DNC is both remarkable and depressing. Kirsten Gillebrand can sit her ass down forever after that shit with Al Franken. Hey Chuck and Nancy if you want to see what courage looks like here’s an example. Oh nice to see Bernie Sanders couldn’t be bothered to show up either. What will be The Bros excuse this time?

    Rep. Lewis is a giant and a genuine hero for this country. I’ve read every biography and article about him that I could ever get my hands on. He is tireless and powerful and I am consistently appalled at how few of my fellow white Americans know nothing about him.
