    It’d be really cool if the next Zelda game started with “Are you masculine? Or feminine?”, which picks between the Link and Linkle skins without changing the name (since Link is a gender-neutral name).

      Eh I’d much rather it be you choosing to play as Link or Zelda, where Link is melee focused and has a bow and Zelda uses ranged magic but has some AoE and teleport/protection magic to clear the field near her.

      I think that crosses over into abject class selection. I was more thinking a gender selection like Pokemon does. As well you’d had to adjust the story, since you’d either have to do a Mass Effect 3 and conjure up a replacement for her, or attempt to swap Link into her shoes which doesn’t really work.

    Hey friends. Lots of good modders working on this and I want to make sure Ainz’ shoutout made it to the page here, since it was hard to squeeze into the piece itself. To quote:

    For decades I’ve been saying they can totally make someone else the hero and/or change the setting and it’ll still retain what makes Zelda games what they are.

    And I don’t mean themes, I mean ALL IN. I still find it hard to believe Zelda - someone who hold actual piece of the triforce - - which is in itself should be crazy powerful - is ‘helpless’ all the damn time. BS.

      Lore wise its an improvement and hope Nintendo keeps breaking/remixing their methods. It’s still “save her, save the world” troupe though. The idea of playing as someone else from early trailers sparked real anticipation and we know how that turned out. Just hope this mod gets out before Nintendo fucks it up with cease and desist orders

    What would be GREAT is if instead of going all C&D, Nintendo got competitive and released a solo Zelda adventure. If they WANT to use the BotW setting, they COULD make it so the player (Zelda) is on a quest to restore Hyrule/Hylia. Maybe there could be full that oppose you in the way that the Ninja opposed Link, they’re worried that rebuilding will bring the Calamity back. Maybe Link has become imbalanced because he’s now the holder of 2 Triforce pieces, and Zelda will have to deal with his shade, ultimately finding a way to bestow the Triforce of Power unto the Gerudo Captain or something. I mean it’s just a thought or whatever.

      You mean like Hylians have shifted blame toward Hylian royalty over the past century, and they see Zelda rebuilding the kingdom as harbinger of Ganon? That could be cool. There wasn’t anything in BotW reflecting a group like that, but I could see it being just fringe enough to exist.

      Well yeah, I mean the Yiga clan would really have nothing BETTER to do than to sew dissent. Maybe also in order to rebuild the ruins into a kingdom, Zelda will have to open portals below each one and plant some kind of seed down below & suddenly there’s a logical reason to have classic dungeons/palaces where Zelda puts artifacts/activates shrines deep into the heart of each.

      Right? I’ve wanted a Zelda game where you can play as Zelda (honestly both Zelda AND Link) since I really got into the series with OoT. BotW especially seemed like a great platform to have a ‘Master Quest’-ish post-completion mode/campaign where you play as either Zelda or both her and Link.

      Of course the game also seemed to have a perfectly set stage for moments where you’d get to take control of the other Champions, but that didn’t happen either.

      I think it’s a fine idea but I’m also in the mentality of not telling someone how to tell their stories. It’s conflicted. Obviously there’s a huge demand for it, so I don’t see why not at least make a bit of DLC. Seems people would happily pay for it.

      I mean, I’m kinda boned in the regard that my favorite Zelda character is Impa from Hyrule Warriors and she’s not gonna be in annnnything else. :C
