“Natural Causes” means “We don’t know, yet”

I think that it means ‘natural causes’. If the cause of death was unknown it’d probably be described as ‘unexplained but not suspicious’, which would suggest to many – given her comparatively young age – suicide. It seems that it’s not that, thankfully, so I would guess something like cancer or heart disease but the family isn’t saying.

I should make clear here that speculating like this feels just as bad to me as it probably looks, but I think that ‘natural causes’ has probably been chosen to shut down rumours that ‘we don’t know’ would leave open.

The Vicar of Dibley was a great show. I rewatch it at least once a year. For those who have never seen it, someone uploaded it on youtube.

I watched it for the first time a year or two ago. Wonderful cast and great feel.

It’s a bit of a shame that all of Chambers’ obits (at least in the states) headline her as ‘Notting Hill actress’ rather than ‘Vicar of Dibley actress’. WTF remembers Notting Hill?

Dibley is top-to-bottom a brilliant show, everything from the concept to the cast is top gear. I’m glad to see it’s become something of a PBS staple. (If you’ve never watched it I’d recommend starting with ‘Dibley Live’.)

I swear the Vicar of Dibley was just on one of the streaming channels. I’m pretty sure it was last year that we rewatched it for the third time. I see from IMDB that Ms Chambers had other roles, but in Alice, she helped create a brilliant and beloved character.

Oh god... those post-credit jokes, where she’d play straight to Dawn French.

    She’ll be missed.

Very sad news, she was superb in the Vicar of Dibley and totally hilarious. Such a shame for her friends and family.

Rewatched all of The Vicar of Dibley last year. Still amazed at how the show made you care so very much about Hugo and Alice, two characters who could have been insufferable but were intensely lovable due to the writing and the excellent actors.

That’s sad. I rewatched the Vicar of Dibley Christmas specials recently and she was perfect in that role. It must have been hard to convincingly play that daft.
