    I’m celebrating Twin Peaks Day by watching two episodes of The Return. I actually didn’t know it was Twin Peaks Day; I just have to hurry up and finish this before it’s due back at the library.

    In other news from 28 years ago, I just learned that back in 1990 Rob Schneider and David Spade wrote a surprisingly good parody of Twin Peaks on SNL. It apparently was Chris Farley’s first appearance, and it also features Conan O’Brien as a silent Andy Brennan. http://welcometotwinpeaks.com/video/saturday-night-live-twin-peaks-sketch/

      I remember that skit! I hadn’t even watched Twin Peaks yet at the time but it was such a part of the cultural zeitgeist that I understood it anyway.

    I’m really gonna spend the rest of my life wondering what the fuck happened in that last episode, aren’t I? Also, still pulling for Sheryl Lee to have gotten a career boost from that whole thing. Her performance was brilliant.

      My take on it is that Coop went back in time in episode 17 and prevented Laura from being killed, which altered the present timeline where he was bringing her to meet her mother, who’s been posessed by BOB/other evil entity. He shifts over to an alternate timeline and tracks her down, brings her to Twin Peaks to try and force that same confrontation, but everything is changed, and the house is occupied by the people who lived there before the Palmers - either they shifted back in time without Coop knowing it, or his universe and time travel changed more than he realised until it was too late.

    He once explained the plot of Dune to a fan using emojis. And when I tweeted to him that I despised emojis yet still sent that to all my friends, he absolutely loved it.
