The fact that we’re applauding teenagers for asking hard questions goes to show that the adult journalists have not been asking hard questions for years.

My thoughts exactly, and it’s one of the most prevalent reasons we’re in this horrific mess right now. Journalists have become less interested in the truth than they are in fucking clicks and ratings. Shame on every last one of them.

Watched this with girlfriends parents and her brother and his wife. All of them NRA, trumptards, except my GF. They kept yelling trumpublican and nra talking points every time a kid would speak. Was brutal. All were in agrreement....”If I had a gun I would’ve shot him in a second.” “Need more guns in school!”

I went to use the restroom through the kitchen and on way back spotted a stack of paper lunch sacks on the side table. I took one out. Opened it up and crumpled the open neck into a small hole. I put it to my lips and filled it with air just as we all have done as kids. I walked into the room and as they all glared at the 65inch, I slammed my hand into it and popped it. It was so fucking loud. They did not reach for guns. Instead, I noticed they all arched their bodies away from the sound and brought their hands to their faces and closed their eyes. It took 10 seconds for them to know what actually happened. If I had an AR-15 I would have shredded them all. They freaked out and screamed at us to leave as it was not funny.

Fuck them and the fantasy they and so many have that when shit happens you become a member of seal team 6. I saw how they reacted......they all turned away and tried to shield. They hate me now and thats ok, my GF loved it.

On Saturday mornings I work with a class that teaches green card holders what they need to know to be citizens. The guy who runs the class is an older white guy whose politics could best be described as libertarian-ish. I roll my eyes at a lot of the things he says, but, at the end of the day, he’s a 70-year-old retiree who could be doing anything he wants with his time, and what he chooses to do is get up early twice a week and drive an hour into the city so he can help immigrants become citizens, so on balance, good dude.

He volunteered to go to Vietnam in ‘68 because he had nothing better to do. (He admits this was a bad idea.) When he came back he became a private investigator and spent 30 years carrying a concealed weapon. Y’know what he thinks about the idea of arming school personnel? That it’s fucking crazy. Even before Parkland he was saying that expecting people who hadn’t seen combat to be more helpful than hurtful with a gun in a crisis situation made no sense, and that nobody should entertain it.

If they ever try that shit again, here’s an easy way to humilate them...

I say “humiliate” not shut down because these irredeemable pieces of shit will never admit that their idiotic opinions are wrong.

By the by, I love that The GOP and The Puppet now want to arm teachers. They spent the last 40 years calling us lazy, uncaring, and incompetent, yet now we’re armed to save everyone (no body armor, by the by). Seriously, thanks, white people, you fucked us all hard by voting for The GOP.

Did they never see “The Substitute?” Clearly teachers are already unstoppable killing machines. And now you want to give them guns?!

Alternate theory: They did see “The Substitute,” and think giving teachers guns is a foolproof plan what with all of them having advanced backgrounds in military tactics.

The performance reviews are going to be wild.

“Well Greg, test scores for your class are up across the board, which is great, but honestly your confirmed kills are way down. We need to see a major lift in these numbers.”

    Hehehehe. Uppity childrens?

Parents, what would you do if your child lectured and ridiculed a U.S. Senator on national television?

Douchebag. This is exactly what conservatives are afraid of and (over)reacting to. Their way of life is going away and younger more progressive people, people of color and LGBTs are snatchin’ away at their privilege.

    Progress always progresses.

If I had a kid who was smart enough to hold their own in a debate with a US senator I’d be pretty damn proud. It really takes an authoritarian mindset to not see any circumstance under which that might be a good thing.

Of course, if the kids were arguing with Democratic senators, or climate scientists or something, that deference would go right out the window. Only certain types of authority are legitimate in their eyes.

“Children should be seen and not heard” has always been a conservative viewpoint. That’s one stark difference between conservatives and liberals; one feels that young people should be empowered, the other will always be dismissive and contemptuous of youth.

Meanwhile, Florida just declared porn a public health risk...because it’s only okay for teenagers to shoot loads so long as they come out the barrel of a gun.

Well, we’d better not do anything about these guns then or the next school massacre is going to be done with a dildo or something.

I WILL ALWAYS ACCEPT THE MONEY WILLING TO SUPORT MY AGENDA

[people willing to pay] BUY INTO MY IDEAS, I DON’T BUY INTO THEIRS

So, is it me or is this the EXACT OPPOSITE of what government representing to people it SERVES meant to be? Representatives are there for OUR ideas, not THEIRS

I suppose if I were a senator and the NRA or somebody that reprehensible were to donate to my campaign, I’d probably take it. Thing is, they wouldn’t be making a second donation if they’ve got any sense at all. They’d know better by then.

No I think the point is that people are supposed to vote and support the person who represents their views. You aren’t electing a robot to always do what you want, you are electing the person you think will work in your interests based on your shared values.

So the politician is supposed to say what their values are and win support that way. Trouble is that often their values are distinctly variable depending on where their funding comes from.

Most gun violence involves the use of a hand gun, not a rifle. Banning rifles is probably not the miracle solution that people seem to think it is.

Replacing every handgun with an AR-15, statistically, would make the murder rate go down.

Handguns would have been just as effective in the Parkland massacre. The focus should be ALL gun violence — not just mass shootings.
