I can’t exactly put my finger in when it happened but sometime in the last 7 or 8 years Matthew Lillard became a pretty good actor.

I think he was always a good actor, but he kept getting cast as more or less the same guy in every movie.  My FAVORITE role of his to this day is still from Hackers.

Not to mention if you work on a David Lynch film, there is a fair to likely chance you’ll meet a strange man who claims to have met you before, whereupon you wake up as a completely different person.

Exactly. That’s personally the reason I haven’t worked with Lynch yet. He just keeps asking though.

His turn on Halt and Catch Fire was the first thing I had seen him in since.. I dunno.. Scooby Doo? It was mind-blowing, to say the least.

I agree, time certainly appears not to have been kind to Matthew.

I wonder if it makes any more sense to him now. I always find it funny when actors give away they haven’t “read the book” or “seen the original/s” but I don’t think the previous shows would have helped him at all! Having said that it’s amazing what actors can achieve with good directing and zero context. If the vision is clear and the actor is able - it works out haha. Belushi also sounded like he had no clue what was going but was fantastic on the show.

Yeah, with the all comic book movie adaptations happening over the last few years, it’s not uncommon for key actors to admit they didn’t read the comics, but I was actually a little surprised this guy admitted he hadn’t seen the original Twin Peaks. Seems like you’d want to know a little bit about David Lynch’s world before taking on a role for one of his new projects. But then I’m not an actor so what do I know.

I did find it curious and off-putting that Rami Malek said in a print interview that he had not been a fan or listened to Queen before accepting the starring role in Bohemian Rhapsody, but then in a late night talk show he basically said, “oh yeah, always loved Queen!” Okay then.

Matthew Lillard is a twit. He stiffed my wife years ago, when she was a cocktail waitress. She served his group all night and he left $0 as a tip. What a tool.
