    The mind boggling question: why in the name of everything that is holy would he do such a thing?

    Unfortunately this can’t be dismissed as a cash grab so i have to think about this for a moment...

    No, i can’t come up with one single reason. I refuse to believe that he is a fan of the show. It was probably some stupid bet with one of his nerd friends or  something.

      I’ve met more than a few legitimate nerd-types (scientists, programmers, comic book artists/collectors, D&D players...) who genuinely love this show — and I daresay Wil Wheaton, Brent Spiner, Stan Lee and Summer Glau’s guest appearances could have all gone a lot worse. Even Hawking and Wozniak were...fine.

      Honestly, I’m still not sure why people hate it so much.

      I’ve only seen the show enough times to observe that the plots are predictable, the jokes are telegraphed a mile away, and the laugh track is annoying. It’s just a normal sitcom really despite its nerd cachet.

      Might be showing my bias but I think Lavar Burton showing up on Community was a bigger deal than Gates on TBBT. It came up organically.
