    A few months ago TV Line had an interesting article/rant about how, in recent years, SNL had developed some anti-TV snobbery when selecting hosts. Of the few TV stars that do get to host, most are there to promote a big movie anyway.

    In the 1980s, when NBC prime time was massively popular, it was almost a rite of passage to see what Cheers or LA Law star would get to host SNL. In this decade, there seems to be little interest in promoting network synergy, with the possible exception of The Voice. The priority seems to be on building up the Five-Timers Club roster, or something.

    So this Sterling K. Brown news is kind of a big deal.
