    I know! Snoke was the worst. Remember in 1983 when everybody left the theater after Jedi complaining that the movie sucked because there was no back story for the Emperor, we didn’t even know his NAME!.....wait.........

      As much as I agree with you in theory and am definitely in the “who gives a shit about Snoke” camp, there is actually a distinct difference between him and the Emperor. In the OT, there was no history that the audience was aware of or interested in. The Emperor COULD just come out of nowhere and be the leader of the Empire and it wouldn’t matter.

      However, Snoke came to power while the Republic was in power and while Luke was still a Jedi master, training his first group of students. I sympathize somewhat with people who wonder how/where/why such a powerful force user could have appeared on the scene under Luke/the Republic’s watch and if he had any connection to decades of history we’ve seen on screen.

      Hey, remember in the 70's when we got the 7th and 8th films in a long running series where the good guys had a achieved a significant victory after 6th film but then, literally out of nowhere, a new bad guy appears more powerful than the last bad guy and is able to take over the galaxy in less than a week? You know, as opposed to a brand new, never before seen universe that begins with the bad guys having already won?

      Luke did stuff. He drank milk from a cow monster, caught a fish and used a force projection to distract Kylo so the heroes could escape.
